Veena’s review of Rekindled (Titanium Security, Book 5) by Kaylea Cross
Paranormal Romance published by Kaylea Cross 16 Jan 14
This book is the concluding novel in a fast-paced series that brings us up close and personal to a master terrorist who is spearheading terrorism around the globe. An elite team of intelligence and military operatives have worked against the clock to bring him down at the cost of heavy casualties. Unfortunately, before they can even take a deep breath of relief, he masterminds an escape out of captivity. Now he’s like a cornered wolf who wants revenge against the people who contributed to his capture, especially Alex Rycroft, the lead NSA agent who’s managed to stay on his back, finally bringing him down. Hold on to the edge of your seats, this is definitely a thrill ride, as Malik discovers Alex’s vulnerability and executes his revenge.
Alex first met Grace Fallon when he was undercover on a mission in Mombasa. They plunged headlong into a love affair, even though Grace knew him under his cover name and persona. Unfortunately for him, his cover was blown when Grace was severely injured in a terrorist attack. They’ve not spoken to each other since the incident, though in their own ways they’ve both been hurting. Now Grace is in Pakistan on a UN mission to recover and defuse chemical weapons. Once again, Alex is in the wrong place at the wrong time and Grace is dead center in the eye of a dangerous terrorist.
Grace fell like a ton of bricks for Alex. When she found out that their relationship had been forged under false pretenses, she cut him off and refused to hear his side of things. She still has nightmares about the terrorist attack, and it looks like Alex is again pulling her into the midst of his mission. This time Alex is determined to protect Grace against all odds, regardless of the personal cost to himself or his team.
Malik Hassani has a very personal score to settle with Alex. Alex and his team have systematically destroyed Malik’s network and allies and taken away his end goal of ultimate world power. He’s determined to have the last laugh, and it seems that he’s a managed to edge a few steps ahead of Alex and his team.
This is a very intense story and the author does a great job of tying up all the loose ends with all the members of the Titanium Security team that we’ve met in previous books. I would definitely advise that you read the earlier books in the series before reading this one, because the stories all connect. A definite thumbs up from me to the entire series but most especially this book.
Grade: A
