“Two men say they’re the Duke of Wyndham. One of them must be wrong.”
That sentence, inspired by a line in the Dire Straits song, “Industrial Disease,” was the starting point for the two-book series I’m writing right now. Each book is about one of the men who may or may not be the true duke. As the two novels share the same external plot, they are very closely intertwined. I decided to write them simultaneously because A) I’m crazy and B) I didn’t want one book to be too dependent on the other.
But mostly because I’m crazy.
Right now the books are scheduled for July and October of 2008, which is exciting for me, as I haven’t had two novels out in a single year since 2000.
I think I like you a lot better because you’re crazy.
I can’t wait to read these books! Any chance we could get some more information? About the heroines, perhaps? Or anything else you wish to tell???
Yeah what Dobby said *g*.
Hey I tried. That is all I could get out of her.
Sorry. I tend to keep my ideas to myself until I’m pretty much done. Seriously, this is about the most I’ve ever said about a work-in-progress before.

How exciting!! I can’t wait!
Are we going to find out which is the right one in the first book? If not, sure going to be interesting how you keep them independent of each other.
I like that song. Interesting premise. I look forward to them.
Julia, that sounds like a great premise. An original way of linking books in a series, too. I don’t mind all these clubs and such but it’s good to see something so fresh and new. Looking forward to reading them.
Many congratulations on your Rita! I was delighted to hear that you’d won.
Pam–
Not telling! (I meant it when I said I don’t really discuss projecrs in progress.) *g*

P.S. So glad you guys like the premise!
This sounds like a great place to build a story from! Can’t wait!
Now there’s a couple of books that definitely go on the TBB list. Can’t believe you are writing them simultaneously .. can we say tricky.
My English husband is a huge Dire Straits fan. He gets ticked when Americans only ever know “Money for Nothing.”
Awesome concept, btw. Doncha love it when ideas come and bite you in the butt like that? Most often, that happens with song lyrics for me too.
Nice Tease!! It will be great to look forward to the two books in 2008 but thats a year away, LOL. But sounds unique Julia!
This definitely sounds intriguing. And potential for lots of humor (and emotion). I hope they’re humorous. I love the way you have so much humor in your books – especially your older ones 🙂
