No really. Someone needs to be an adult here and it is obviously not going to be me. We need a rule…
NO MORE LIBRARY SALES
uh after the one on the 19th cuz that library always has really good books.
But after that! NO MORE!
Damn It I mean it! They see me and go look… a sucker… quick close that bag full of those ‘romance’ novels she will take it. And why is it the ‘friends’ of the library do not know that ROMANCE is a really big genre and that ‘those small books’ are harlequin categories.
Oh and good rule of thumb don’t be sneering at the books as you try to get rid of them. le sigh… I can not rescue all abused romance novels. God knows how many desires, harlequin presents and SSE I now have two or three times. Two sales… just two I ended up with 125? from that last one I think lawson took 5. And this one? Prolly 60 categories and they wanted me to take more. And a lot are new! Many I bought new and haven’t read!
One day I swear I will finish cataloging these books! Wendy did it, you would think she could come do mine. California… Texas… same diff
Now I will go finish the totally different book I already had started or and maybe announce some more winners since I have so many to do.
There are quite a few cataloguing programs that only require the ISBNs nowadays, so if you get one of those barcode scanner things (try eBay) you can catalogue them much easier. They then pull the info from Amazon, or if you have BYRON, I think it works too.
Dude I took about 20 books from that library sale that we got 125 books for $5.
Btw, you’re taking me to that next library sale, right? 🙂
An old lady was having a yard sale and she was selling Harlequin Romances out of his giant crate. I look at the crate and say, “How much for the whole thing?” and she looks at me in my sweat pants and ratty t-shirt and says “fifteen bucks.” It was a GIANT HUGE BOX. 300 books in there. Most of them new. Blaze, Silhouette, Historical, American… it was nuts! Tim was pissed at me. He was all, “damn it, you’re never going to read those books!” and I was like, “… but they needed a home! A good home!”
May I need that I think. But my cheap ass doesn’t want to pay for it. I would love to have bryon but see the part about cheap. I just keep thinking, that would buy a lot of books!
heee lawson, 20? Are you sure? yep you can come along, sadly I think I will take that saturday off just to go… WHAT? They are normally 10 cents!!! And they must have tons of romance readers cuz they have good shit. Normally the friends are even nice! I got their early (shut up it could happen) and there was a line people… a LINE! To get into a library book sale. heee
Bam I completely understand! See that is the problem, how do you look at those lurvy books and not give them a roof over their heads? At that last sale they put 25 books in a bag, stapled it and it was a DOLLAR! They had five I think… lawson and I filled a box and they told us they were…25 cents I think. So I am going through picking all the ones I want vs the like 7 I decided I didn’t need to buy the woman comes by and says something silly like one time good deal, I am not seeing this, fill the bag. LOL so we proceed to grab them all. Two more bags and I then took the last two bags cuz I figured five bucks? We were gonna spend more than that anyway.
And hey… it is a donation… right? And much fun was had going through the bags! And they had some old Nora Robert Harlequins and I want them.
I cataloged my TBR using Library Thing and it was super easy. Just type in the ISBN number and it pulls up the info from Amazon. And it’s cheap! $25 for a lifetime membership – which I think is so worth it, but that’s just me. Oh, and nice try – you’re on your own when it comes to cataloging your books.
I’ll let you in on a secret – libraries are always desperate to unload older Harlequins. They get them by the truck-load and nobody seems to want them. Well, except for you and Bam. Try not send out the “Will Rescue Unwanted Books!” signal. Library folk can spot your type a mile away 😉
see how you are…
Just for that I am gonna send you some, ohhhhhhhhhh with every prize the winner wins a surprise book! Woot! People will be reading HP all over the world!
The surprising thing to me was these are new desires. Like ones I JUST bought. Not sure about all the SSE and HP but some of them were 07. Hey I was good! She was all, we could probably put the rest of these in just one more bag! And that sad look, or we will have to put all these back up, in that don’t you feel bad for this ol bird kind of way.
I finally told her I have books riding around in the back of my car from the last library sale, if I get stuck in a dire situation, everyone will have something to read. And have a couple THOUSAND at home. No can’t take another bag. She back away slowly at that point and all was good.
