I almost wish I’d gone to RT for the simple fact it’s been a CRAZY week! (For those of you new to adventures in amie land #1 is oldest son and #2 is youngest son—they’re 13 and 11.
It started Monday when #2 broke the button of his shorts. I had to leave work and take him some at school.
Then on Tuesday, I had to run #2 to the store for a drink. Then I had to run #1 to the store for money, then I get to work and 45 minutes later the school nurse calls and I had to run #1 to the doctor for x-rays. THEN I get back to work and bad storms move in. #2 calls me three times about picking him up THEN he’s not there when I get there (we had tornadoes north of us and just horrible weather).
THEN on Wednesday the kids fight all evening long until I finally send them to bed before I have a nervous breakdown. So far that’s the best of a bad week.
So I’m thinking Thursday morning NOTHING else could go wrong. NOTHING. I’ve had my fill for the week. Thursday afternoon I get home a little early, I start making Scottish Shortbread for the ENTIRE fifth grade class (which I found out on TUESDAY when #2 also tells me he needs a note because he doesn’t have a recipe to give his teacher) and anyway, #1 is nowhere to be seen or found (also #2 lost his house key). #1’s stuff is on the front porch and he’s grounded but nowhere to be seen. FINALLY after I drive around, panic and contemplate calling the police, he shows up. His splint is also cracked. I’m baking cookies until like 7 at night–that’s like 3 hours of torture because I hate to bake and I’m not supposed to eat sugar or flour—which is pretty much all Scottish Shortbread IS.
And this morning I wake up to the sound of a very loud bird, roll over and go back to sleep until I have to get #2 up. He wanders into the living room and then sticks his head in my door and says, “Mom there’s a bird on the fan and Ham’s trying to get him.”
God how I wish it was their father’s weekend this weekend.
So how did your week go? Amie will be giving away a copy or two of Hands On to help brighten up your icky week. So tell us your tale of woe and we will pick a winner on Sunday. You have until Saturday April 28 (til midnight CST) to post to be entered. Good luck!
sheesh! boys……
I got nothing but fighting and name calling at my house…
I was ill all week, had to plan a presentation for a conference in November, and shlep the kiddies all around and go to work. Plus my daughter has a thing for pulling off her diapers, and peeing and pooping on the floor. Plus, she pooped in the bathtub twice. It’s been a weird and exhausting week.
I argued with my daughter’s dance studio all week. Had two of the most unprofessional people on the planet making excuses for themselves. I hate that crap. And I hate having such an inane detail as these women and costume deposits take up so bloody much of my time! I have BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN ARGUE WITH YOU, you muddle-headed ninnies! (not you guys – someone else entirely) 🙂
By the way Amie – smokin’ hot cover! LOVE it!
I’ve had to babysit my nieces and nephew most of the week and they have done nothing but argued. They had a couple of sand fights too. We had a bigger pool put in and had some sand left over. We finally was able to clean the leftover sand up today. Awesome cover!
My week has been crazy…Mom is coming for a visit and I’ve been rushing around all day channeling Handy Annie and fixing things that need fixin’! LOL I’m proud to say I’ve completed everything on my To Do list except for a couple of things…one being the stubborn doorknob on my older daughter’s door…it refuses to budge and now it locks whoever goes into the room in there until someone opens the door for them on the outside….can anything else go wrong? LOL
HUGS Amie! I’ve had weeks like that…more than I’d like to admit.
This week has been crazy with edits and my day job. Someday I will quit…
I hope next week is better for you.
GAwwww what is with the arguing!!!!!
It just wears me down so bad!
Oh and we spent almost 3 hours at the orthopedists getting a cast *sigh*
I think I need wine 😀
Gwen thank you–I hart it too!
Monday was okay. Tuesday the week started going down hill. I work as a medical transcriptionist and Tuesdays are always bad days because my fave doc is out on Monday so Tuesdays I end up getting crap work. Well, Wednesday was about the same as Tuesday. Grrr. Oh, and it was raining. Pfft! Thursday was better work-wise but it was still raining, and I started getting sick. I could feel it starting in my head and chest. Friday- STILL raining, and I’m sick. Work was good while I could do it(6 of 8 hours) the other 2 hours I called in sick and lay on the couch dying. 🙂 Bronchitis and a sinus infection… so NOT fun.
If you hadn’t noticed, Amie, I’m blog-hopping hoping to win a copy of Hand-On. I’m dying here! LOL That cover so totally rocks.
Hi Amie!! Love the cover! Congrats on the release! And wow on your day! I so remember those! Today everyone was gone to school/work since they are older now and I was stuck in bed ill, but I have a story that I remember of a day that I’ll never forget!
My son was about 6 years old and my daughter was 9. My husband and I were working on the garden outside while my son was playing in the yard and the sandbox. I look over at him and see that his hearing aid, one of two, is off. I ask him where the other hearing aid is? He says “I don’t know” I said Andy is a $500 hearing aid, you have to find it now! If not I’ll have to get the police to come with their dectectors to find it!” I figured that was stern enough to tell him I was serious. So I go back to working in the garden and then later check on my son and he’s not in the yard. My daughter comes yelling that the police are on the phone and they are coming over! Then my son comes out and stands next to her. I asked why are the police coming? And my son kept shrugging his shoulders and next thing you know, there’s about 3 cars pulled up and they come and said that there was a report that ‘my mom is dead’. After figuring this out, it seems that my son was scared when I told him that I had to call the police so he went in the house and called 911 and told the police that he didn’t want to go to jail. The police were asking him why and he kept saying “I can’t find it” With his hearing lost and language, they weren’t sure what he was saying when they asked him, let me talk to your mother and instead of telling them ‘my mom is deaf’ he said ‘my mom is dead’ You could see some of the police there stiffling to laugh and I’m terrified with all the police here and feeling so guilty. So my son says we got to find my hearing aids. So I have six police looking on the ground for a hearing aid and eventually we find it and they leave. I was never so morified in my life. But now when we tell the story, we laugh hysterically!!
So Amie, when you tell your story in a few years about this day, you’ll be laughing too!
Girl, you had a great week compared to mine. My cousin, who had a slight improvement during the weekend due to the antibiotics for the bacteria lodged in her heart artery, was moved back to intensive care at the hospital again, hooked on all kind of machines. On Monday the docs ran some tests, and then again on Tuesday. Verdict? The docs discovered she’d suffered brain hemorrhages. Her brain was now 95% dead. By Wednesday it went to 100% dead, and the only thing keeping her alive was the respiratory machine. Yesterday her husband took the decision to have the machine removed. She only lasted 5 minutes after that. Today her body is at the funerary. She left behind 4 pre-teens. My aunt is inconsolable. BTW, today was my cousin’s b-day. She’d have turned 42. She was only 2 month older than me.
Tempest, bigs hugs and prayers your way.
My week was just busy at the beginning and then totally not fun at the end. I will start by saying I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. Now normally my hubby takes them to school because i leave to teach before they are up, but he needed me to take them Tuesday and Thursday, so those were very hectic mornings. On top of that i was leading a field trip on Tuesday for 150 second graders to the ballet. That actually went pretty well, just very nerve racking. Then thursday night i get woken up at 2 in the morning to my 2 year old throwing up and having diahrrea issues too. So we were up from 2 until 4 in the morning. I called for a sub about 3 in the morning and went into school Friday morning (while hubby stayed with the kids) to drop off lesson plans a fix my room. But a sub never showed up so my team had to split up my classes among them, i felt really bad. Then I went home to a sick 2 year old and stayed with her all day.
Amie, I hope that this next week goes better for you.
three hours???? hell even when Heir broke BOTH his ankles we weren’t even there an hour to get casts on (any of the times–he went through three sets–between the surgeries and whatnot) THREE HOURS–I’d have given you my wine if I’d hadn’t drank it all already 😉
Sorry to hear that Tempest! Sending hugs your way! I can sympathize with you too Amie! I had a dificult week with my little ones. My 3 1/2 year old had a stomach virus so I have been cleaning up diahrrea for a few days. Luckily, he only vomitted once. Once was enough. My 6 month old baby girl has been really cranky this week as well. I think it is due to teething. She has not been sleeping well due to it which means I am not sleeping well either. In the middle of this, I get my stupid period so I have to deal with that as well. Today I feel very tired, very cranky, and burned out.
Good Lord I had a lousy couple of days doing the crap chores we all hate to do, but nothing like all of you. Of course, it helps that the child units are a bit older and not as prone to mayhem as they used to be.
Here’s wishing you all a better week ahead and a nice restful and restorative weekend.
Tempest, my heartfelt condolences. We had to take my brother off life support after a lengthy illness when he suffered both a respiratory and heart failure. It’s very, very difficult. Our family rallied around each other and took comfort in each other and that was the most healing and helpful for me. Take care.
Sorry for the bad week, Amie. Wishing you all here better weeks ahead. Tempest, I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. My week wasn’t near as bad. A few mishaps at work and some long hours.
Amie – I totally get the bad week! Not the same as yours but bad. Bad weather on Monday, 17 yr old daughter drama on Tuesday, more drama on Wednesday, doctor drama with 17 year old on Thursday and Friday… Oh, and work isn’t even in this mess. It was a whole other bad week.
Here’s to better days! See you on the Back Porch!
Lynn
