I read a lot, and a lot of variety. There are stacks of non-fiction around the house and ridiculous numbers of boxes of fiction titles. (I still haven’t unpacked all the ones we moved, because they BRED in the moving truck and the bookshelves that used to hold them all were filled before all the boxes were emptied. I can’t make sense of this, but it
happens every time we move. I’m not moving again, for a while. There are just too many books in here.)
I love the idea of organizing my books, but I think I’d have to get them a separate house, one with walls lined with bookshelves in order to do that. It’s not very common
for me to read more than one title by any given author (that’s my weird thing – I graze) and I haven’t read a lot of romance for a while. I like to be surprised when I read and for a while there, everything I picked up was predictable. I’m browsing for something new and tasty, so feel free to load me up with suggestions.
You have too many books! So I am entering to win some of them in your giveaway!
Hi, Claire!
I just went the same thing myself. I moved from a three-bedroom house into a three-bedroom duplex. A three-bedroom should still have enough storage for everything, including your books, right??
LOL, not by a long shot. And I agree, books do breed when they’re in transit! I swear I have more than I started out with after packing them all.
But I’m still enjoying reading them all, no matter what. I just finished an ARC of Marjorie M. Liu’s Soul Song, a new series she’s starting, Dirk & Steele. I highly recommend this one — terrific story! It’s not out until July, but put it on your wishlist. You won’t be disappointed.
Also, Colleen Thompson’s Head On is another great read. It’s also going on sale in July. First time I’ve read Ms. Thompson and I’ve become an instant fan. Highly recommend this one too.
Kristin Hannah’s Once in Every Life was also a wonderful read. I’m a huge fan of time travel and reincarnation, but what I loved about this book is the emotion of it. She takes a modern day disorder and shows what it would have been like when suffered as an unknown in the past, which reminds me of Laura Kinsale’s Flowers From the Storm. She does the same thing in that book and it just tears at the heart. Both are just terrific if you haven’t read them.
I also just finished a couple of contemps — still have the third one to read — Lucy Monroe’s Ready, Willing, and Able. Wow! Three to-die-for mercenaries, of course alpha to the core, which I love and had the best time with. I know Able is going to be the same, so can’t wait to start on it.
LOL, I could go on, but hopefully this help and give you a start with all the others that will be recommneded throughout the day.
Have to tell you I enjoyed your Jewels of Kinfairlie series so much. I was hoping, like everyone else I’m sure, that Elizabeth would get her own story. Is there any hope there at this point?
Thank you!
Sandy M
I do think books breed. LOL.
I’ve read some good romances lately, but in the non-romance category, I’m not up on most current reads (ask me about 200 year old novels and I’m there). Let’s see…Lisa Scottoline’s latest is good. And I’m going to buy The Alchemist on recommendation from a friend.
Thanks Sandy – I’m glad you liked the Jewels of Kinfairlie. Sybil has something to post about that (I think. Memory *doesn’t* always serve me!! LOL)
I keep hearing Marjorie Liu’s name, so she’s at the top of my buy list.
