Dear Jane had a nifty idea for a contest. No, really I did and do think it is nifty but I thought the timing sucked ass.
I am an odd duck like that maybe I have told you this before but I HATE, hate, hate it when people think they can tell me to do something and force my hand to do it.
Suggest… cool
Recommend… cool
Offer ideas… tres cool
Make me feel like I have to do something or I am a bad reader, bad person, bad something and well ten to one I will either toss my hair and be done with you or tell you to go fuck yourself. Sometimes BOTH!
So this is the perfect example of why Jane is a much better, smarter, dare I even say nicer person than moi. Of course the funny thing is I still get to say four lil words about the whole thing.
But I won’t. Often. Well I shall try. And in case you are like shiloh, sitting there going what in the fuck is she talking about… go here
Hey, Shiloh ain’t the only one that needs to buy clues every once in a while 😉
The part where you are feeling like you are being told you are a bad reader is the Barbara Samuel’s piece, right? Cause that was how I felt after reading it. Hey, tell me all about the giddiness and the tears but DON’T tell me this should be important to readers and that I should care. I think reading about an authors experiences would have done more to make me care than being told ‘bad reader!’.
I mentioned at DA that maybe Barbara Samuels should be told about all this and how it blew up in readers faces. What are her feelings now?
CindyS
I wouldn’t be shocked if she doesn’t post anywhere about it. But who knows.
I sort of want her to post and go through the list. You know, explain the kraft behind the books and show us silly lil readers WHY they are on the list.
I still won’t run out and get the book. Really I just want to see her try and explain some of those books as being more than just a popular vote.
BUT it does look like kleypas is there not once but TWICE. Hope that is right
WoOT! seeee I can squueeee *g* And Bird is up for a category. But fuck me if Z isn’t up for an ATSNBN cuz that would be flat out wrong. With every other book being published fitting in the paranormal category, how do you explain a nomination for Elizabth Boyle, His Mistress By Morning and Sara Mackenzie, Secrets of the Highwayman?
The BEST Paranormal? Really?
