Bryna Metaxas is tired of being the little cousin in the family business and sets out to prove she is a viable player in Metaxas Lumber Mill. After the mess her cousin Ari made in seducing the fiancé of a prospective business partner, Manolis Philippidis, she presents a business proposal to Caleb Payne, his hired consultant, in one last-ditch effort to save the Mill and the devastated town of Earnest, Washington. The steamy sexual tension between them keeps the cold, calculated business tactics in motion.
Caleb Payne has wanted her the moment she walked through his office door. He would like nothing more than to tell her once again he is not interested in doing business with Metaxas Lumber Mill or its players. The only thing he is interested in is getting one Bryna Metaxas naked in his bed or any other flat surface. Used to getting what he wants when he wants it, for as long as he wants it, Caleb is not sure what to make of Bryna. He wishes for a woman who would provide a few surprises. Did he find her and what would he have to do to have her?
I really, really enjoyed this book. I kept saying one more chapter and I would turn out the light. Ha! It was well after midnight when I finished the last page and restrained myself from waking my husband. Jeez, but I really wanted too.
It looks like I will have to continue with the next saga of the town of Earnest, Washington and the troubled Metaxas Lumber Mill Company. That piece of the puzzle is left unfinished. We still have Bryna’s cousin Troy and Caleb’s friend, Palmer DeVoe, who is also from the town of Earnest.
After visiting the Tori Carrington’s web site I have discovered why the sex scenes are so vivid. They are Lori and Tony Karayianni, a couple writing together as a team and, boy, what a team. I have some catching-up reading to do by this duo.
