Sandy M’s review of Jilted by Vi Keeland
Contemporary Romance published by Bramble 6 May 25
I’ve read just a few Vi Keeland books, and I’ve enjoyed each one quite a bit. This story is no exception. And I really, really like Wilder Hayes. The he-falls-first trope is moving its way up my favorites list. And Wilder doesn’t let up one bit, once he knows this jilted bride is the one for him.
Sloane works for a brides magazine, a little ironic because she was recently left at the altar by her fiance. Thus, she’s sworn off dating, men, and all that for a while. But the job calls, and while she’s tip-toeing around a bridezilla, she ends up as a bridesmaid where she meets Wilder, the man of the really blue eyes that captivate her every time she looks at him. Despite those eyes – and a kiss that knocks her socks off – she sticks to her guns about men, especially since she won’t see him ever again.
Little does she know further surprises are in store. Wilder is the son of the man who owns the magazine she works for. He’s also a famous former rugby player, and he already knows he wants Sloane forever. He keeps that to himself for a while, and we get to enjoy the banter and fun bickering on that journey. We also get some emotional heartache as we learn more and more about their pasts that have shaped them so far in life.
Little by little Sloane lets her guard down with Wilder, and she’ll never be sorry about that. I knew from the beginning he’d be worth everything in end. He’s my favorite type of hero, a man’s man with a good heart who goes after what he wants and has the patience to wait for the life that will make him – and her! – happy till the end of time.
Try reading Ms. Keeland if you haven’t yet. You will be pleasantly surprised and happy you took the chance.
Summary:
After getting ditched at the altar, every “I do” makes me want to scream.
Which is a problem, considering I’m an associate editor at Bride magazine.
Just when I thought my job couldn’t get any worse, I got roped into being a last-minute bridesmaid… and paired with Wilder Hayes.
Gorgeous, smug, and maddening. Cue the bickering, the sparks, and one very unexpected coat closet moment.
Not my finest hour… or was it? Because that kiss? Easily the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced.
At least I’ll never have to see him again.
Until Monday rolls around, and—surprise!—he’s my boss’s son and my new work shadow for the season.
It’s a match made in heaven…or hell. Only time will tell.
