Sandy M’s review of Rally (Treasure State Wildcats, Book 3) by Devney Perry
Contemporary Romance published by Devney Perry 6 Aug 24

I have to admit when I discovered this book is about one of the Treasure State Wildcats students, I was a bit wary. The older I get anymore, the more a lot of younger characters don’t work for me. Even though my angst and other youthful whatnot was years ago, I don’t necessarily want to live it again through anyone else – even my romance heroes and heroines. Fortunately, at least for me, Devney Perry is so very good at her craft.

From Rush and Faye’s first meeting, which gives us that initial look at how different their life experiences are, these two burrow into your heart with every page. Rush is as shocked as Faye when he finds out she’s pregnant. A life-changing event during a life-changing time, both being seniors at university. What I really love is, despite the shock, Rush is as charming and caring as ever when it comes to this young woman who has gotten under his skin. He wants to make everything better for her. You can’t help but love him that much more as he moves toward a responsibility he never imagined at this point in his life.

Faye is a loving and compassionate person, which is saying something when you gradually learn all she’s gone through in her short life. Now everything is going to change again, and she has no idea what’s going to happen. But she steps up and lets Rush know her predicament and is overwhelmed when he also steps up, so she won’t have to travel this road alone. Their love is slow and fulfilling, giving you the hope they will survive together. They have support from his family and coaches, which is wonderful to see, so you have to cheer them on even while the future is unknown.

But that future looks bright, and Ms. Perry brings it all to a beautiful conclusion with love, romance, smiles, and tenderness. Well, there’s a few tears along the way, but that makes everything else so worthwhile. This series keeps getting better. So if you haven’t started it yet, now is the time.

Grade: A

Summary:

An accidental pregnancy, small town, sports romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Devney Perry.

Pregnant. Homeless. Broke. Not what I’d expected for my senior year in college. Neither was Rush Ramsey.

We met the day I went camping and got stranded on the side of a gravel road. I didn’t believe in white knights who freed damsels in distress. Life had taught me that if something bad could happen, it probably would. The only person who would save me was me.

But Rush Ramsey rescued me that day. He was sweet and kind and charming. He made a dark, starry night a little less lonely.

I should have realized it was too good to be true. That an incredible night of passion would come with consequences. That the bad luck rollercoaster I’d been riding for twenty-one years wasn’t ready to stop.

Because Rush Ramsey, Treasure State University’s most eligible bachelor and quarterback extraordinaire, just got me pregnant.
