Sandy M’s review of When You Know You Know by Ever Lilac
Contemporary Romance published by Ever Lilac 12 Dec 23

Okay, right up front – I chose to read this book because I like the cover. I don’t do that often, because, of course, you never know (despite the title of this book) what you’re going to get. Sometimes you can be really, really surprised and end up with a delightful story. And then sometimes….

….you end up with a book so insipid, it’s nowhere near funny. That’s this book. I definitely got ass-bit for choosing to read a book because of a cover.

The heroine, Zerena (who changed the spelling of her name, just because I guess), is as silly as they come. She’s young. That’s her only excuse for being that outrageously brainless.

I’d hoped the hero, Blaise, would be better. I was doomed for disappointment before I even started reading. This jerk is prime, A #1 asshole through and through. Five chapters in, there’s no romance yet. Just back and forth between these two that gets boring and irritates you to no end.

And the blurb is not really what you get, even in those few chapters I read.

I wasn’t willing to go any further after nothing happening for five chapters. What a waste of time. Oh, and this author has a number of books published – probably all self-published – but beware. I won’t be reading anything else by her, even though I still like the cover. At least that’s someone else’s work to be enjoyed.

Grade: DNF

Summary:

I’ve seen him a couple of times before.

He comes into my coffee shop for his meetings, and the entire staff is terrified of him.

Blaise Pendragon is prickly, grumpy, rude and dangerously hot.

A smart girl would stay away from him. She’d leave a guy like that in peace, but I just can’t help myself. I can feel his eyes on me and maybe it’s just my imagination but sometimes he gets a little possessive around me. Of course I could be making a mistake but I’m willing to risk it, and make a move.

I wouldn’t mind cozying up to the damn grump this winter….as long as he doesn’t bite my head off.
