Kaitlyn‘s review of Divine Rivals (Letters of Enchantment, Book 1) by Rebecca Ross
Romantic Fantasy published by Rebecca Ross 4 Apr 23

This book had no business being as good as it was. World War I vibes, but with gods and magic thrown in, I was completely enamored with every aspect. There’s also rivals to lovers, magical love letters, and awesome myths woven into the story. I didn’t want to put this down; it was so crazy good.

It also had me thinking of Taylor’s The Great War the entire time, which just made everything even better. Seriously, this book is amazing. You should absolutely read it.

My only issue is that ending! Rebecca, how could you leave us like that?! I need Book 2 so bad and I NEED to know that a certain handsome war correspondent is going to be okay!! 😅

I can’t recommend this book enough. The writing is mesmerizing and I’ll definitely be reading more of Ross’s books.

Grade: A

Summary:

When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever.

After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together. Her mother is suffering from addiction and her brother is missing from the front lines. Her best bet is to win the columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette.

To combat her worries, Iris writes letters to her brother and slips them beneath her wardrobe door, where they vanish—into the hands of Roman Kitt, her cold and handsome rival at the paper. When he anonymously writes Iris back, the two of them forge a connection that will follow Iris all the way to the front lines of battle: for her brother, the fate of mankind, and love.
