Veena’s review of Flirt With Me (The O’Callaghans, Book 4) by Kristen Proby
Contemporary Romance published by Ampersand Publishing, Inc. 18 Aug 21

From the first book I read penned by this author to this one, I’m a fan. I absolutely love Ms. Proby’s brand of contemporary romance with sassy heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, and sparkling conversation that keeps a reader entertained from start to finish.

The O’Callaghans are an Irish-American family who live on a small island off the Puget Sound close to Seattle. Other than the one brother who runs the pub that was started by their parents, each of the siblings have their own careers and life and yet they all have their roles in the pub and gather there for many fun-filled evenings of good old Irish stew, the right brew, and evenings of music and dancing.

It’s no surprise that Hunter Meyers ends up at the pub when he goes to the island looking for a new home and a new way of life that will give his teenage daughter different choices. It’s also no surprise that he ends up attracted to Maeve Callaghan, who also turns out to be the realtor who’s helping him look for properties.  So it’s not much of a surprise that Hunter loves the property that Maeve has long coveted and has been saving up for.

Wow! Ms. Proby sure knows how to flesh out her heroes – handsome, rich, and caring. Hunter Meyer definitely knows how to court a girl, whether it’s in preparation for a fancy Hollywood bash or showing up in the middle of the night when her roof springs a leak or being the perfect caring dad. The supporting characters, most of whom we’ve met before, are adorable and it’s always fun to catch up on the what comes after the happily ever after after their book closed their chapter.

Another winner. Ms. Proby, please keep your stories coming as fast as you can pen them.

Grade: A

Summary:

There are two things Maeve O’Callaghan values more than anything else: her family and her career. Being the eldest daughter in a large, close-knit and somewhat chaotic Irish family means spending most of her nights in the family-owned pub, serving drinks and food, always accompanied by a smile. During the day, she’s a superstar real estate agent, selling homes on her beloved island just across Puget Sound from Seattle. She doesn’t have time for much else, and she’s perfectly okay with that.

Enter Hunter Meyers. He’s looking for a new place to call home, somewhere out of the city, and believes life on the island could be just the thing for him and his troubled teenage daughter. While in search of finding the perfect house, his sexy realtor catches his eye, making him feel things he hasn’t in years. But with the added baggage of a surly teen and a past that will never be forgotten, how can he make something permanent with the gorgeous Irishwoman who tempts him like no other?

Maeve isn’t just attracted to Hunter with his killer grin and muscles for days. The teenager that tries so hard to push her away also pulls at her heartstrings. Maeve understands the importance of family, and can see herself making just that with Hunter and his daughter. But when his past comes back to haunt him, will their love be strong enough, or will they be ripped apart forever?
