Book CoverVeena’s review of Vampire Master (Vampire Queen, Book 16)  by Joey W Hill
Erotic Paranormal Romance  published by Story Witch Press 15 Dec 19

In this fascinating BDSM-on-steroids world created by Ms. Hill, Wolf, a vampire, is a resident Dom at Club Atlantis where Ella is a club submissive.  The author has tantalized us with glimpses of their emotional connection in earlier books in the series, escalated to full-blown want with the vignette earlier this summer. I can assure you that nothing you’ve read prepares you for the emotional impact of this story and the coming together of two souls who are meant to be. One of the deepest pleasures for me was not only re-reading the Club Atlantis books featuring Anwyn, Daegan, and Gideon, but also revisiting the entire Vampire Queen series. I highly recommend reading Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity before reading this book, if possible, since it will enrich your reading experience, but I am fascinated with the trail the author has left in all of her books which comes together so seamlessly here.

From the get-go Ella’s fascination with Wolf is clear, but what is not clear is why Wolf resists the temptation that Ella poses to him. However, once he determines to exercise a master’s rights with Ella, she blossoms. The Daddy Dom scene and the massage scene evokes a strong emotional connection with them and gets you totally invested in the unfolding story.  Gideon is his usual “charming” self, looking out for Ella, and giving her background information on vampires preparing her to be Wolf’s servant.

I like how the author ties together Gideon’s mark from the earlier books into one of Wolf’s friends and fellow vampire. Club Atlantis is definitely becoming an integral part of the vampire world and the advent of the Region Master and Ella getting swept into vampire politics is a scary lesson, which, fortunately, gets transformed into erotica cleverly melding pleasure and pain.

The interesting group of characters old and new and its nice blend of action and drama makes this one of my favorite books by Joey Hill.

Grade: A

Summary:

Big and bad enough to be any girl’s nightmare—or her best dream ever…

Beyond your grasp. Those are the three words that come to mind, every time Ella sees Wolf at Club Atlantis. He earns the term Master, in and out of scene, yet there is something deeper and darker about him. She wants to dive into that abyss.

Wolf sees the yearning. But the submissive he ultimately claims will become his servant, soul-bound to him for all eternity. Ella is a natural submissive, with an endless desire to please. She’s perfect for the role, really. Except Ella is a gift he doesn’t deserve.

However, vampires are wired one way—to take what they want, no matter what their conscience tells them. Even Wolf isn’t strong enough to resist his nature…or the salvation Ella’s love offers.
