Dinca’s review of Heir Today Gone Tomorrow (It’s Reigning Men, Book 2) by Jenny Gardiner
Contemporary Romance published by Jenny Gardiner Books 13 Apr 15

Book 2 in the It’s Reigning Men series is not quite as funny as the first one, but it still has very well-developed charters. I enjoyed reading Darcy and Caroline’s story very much.

Caroline is always a riot and I enjoy her friendship with Emma. Although she finds it so hard to be madly involved with Darcy and not be able to have him in her life, yet still have to be friends with him because he is Emma’s future husband’s best friend, she learns to have a life without Adrian too and starts a good self-supporting business with a new friend.

Adrian has a lot on his plate and can’t handle adding Caroline to the mix. His guilt of being off all carefree instead of learning to be the next duke of Weltinham is overwhelming after his father dies. He feels guilty because he was off having fun with Caroline and feels even more guilt because he wants her and is trying to sort out his life without her.

Adrian’s mom and sister are all for him enjoying a little life while taking on the role of duke. His brother has his own baggage he is willing to dump on anyone at any time and does so freely.

Not as cute and funny as Book 1, but very entertaining. I just loved Darcy and Caroline in that book and continued to love them in their own story. This one took a few twists and turns and made me wish it was as easy to fly in and out of the country as it seems in the story. We meet a lot of characters for the other books in the series. All have very distinct personalities which prove Jenny Gardiner is a talented writer. I will continue to read this series and search for other books by her.

Now on to the dastardly Alexander in Book 3.

Grade: A

Summary:

It’s all fun and royal games until somebody’s heart gets broken…

In his line of work, royal heir Darcy Squires-Thornton has always been content playing second fiddle to close friend Prince Adrian, and happy, too, with whatever brief romantic encounters come his way. Especially one with carefree Caroline McKenzie, whose best friend is engaged to the prince. Fun-loving Caroline McKenzie’s motto has always been “love the one you’re with”. But when the one she’s no longer with is the one with whom she’s fallen in love, what’s a girl an ocean away to do?
