Book CoverSandy M’s review of Mischief and Mayhem (Whiskey Sisters, Book 2) by L.E. Rico
Contemporary Romance published by Entangled: Bliss 9 Jul 18

Mayhem, Minnesota has become a favorite place for me to go lately. The Whiskey sisters so far have gotten their happily every afters amid laughter, heartbreak, and fun, all with an eccentric group of townsfolk who double every bit of the laughter, heartbreak, and fun. This time we take a journey with Scott and Jameson. They have a complicated history, and once their attraction kicks in again?

Jameson is newly divorced. From Scott’s brother. Yep, he’s her ex-brother-in-law. In the midst of getting her new life in order, Big Win, Scott’s and Win’s father, becomes ill, and he’s designated both Scott and Jameson as his medical advocates. This, of course, doesn’t go over well with Win, the jerk of an ex-husband. He’s one piece of work throughout the story. Scott and Jameson do try to fight their feelings, but it’s a family snafu waiting to happen.

Scott has been gone for ten years, away from the judgmental town and epic fights with Win. So only the love for his father could bring him back to Mayhem. He’s always been on the move, helping those across the planet who can’t help themselves. Now another dilemma is in the works when he can’t walk away from Jameson, who has sworn off men after her disastrous marriage.

This book isn’t as lighthearted as the first – there’s a couple of secrets that can do even further damage to these families. But there’s still fun to be had, especially when it comes to Jameson’s and Win’s two year old, who I know I’ve mentioned in previous reviews of this series. He’s an adorable whirlwind. I do like that the brothers try to mend some fences after said secrets come to light. I also really enjoy all the townsfolk of Mayhem. They add another layer of fun and support. And, of course, the Whiskey sisters are always delightful, there for one another no matter what and no questions asked.

I haven’t heard anything recently what Ms. Rico is working on next, but whatever it is, I can’t wait. If you haven’t read this series yet, you should get started. It’s wonderfully written and full of emotion. You won’t regret one word.

Grade: A

Summary:

Welcome to Mayhem, Minnesota, home of the Knitty Kitty, The Little Slice of Heaven Pie Shop, and O’Halloran’s Pub—owned by the four young women known as The Whiskey Sisters.

In the wake of her divorce, Jameson O’Halloran has gone man-vegan. And this is one diet she’s determined to stick with. Even when her long-lost ex-brother-in-law shows up looking like two scoops of double dutch dipped in chocolate… She’s not giving in. Been there and still wearing the messy T-shirt.

It’s been a decade since Scott Clarke left his family and his hometown, never to return. But when tragedy strikes, he finds himself dragged back to the land of gossip, judgment, and the one woman he absolutely, positively, without a doubt can never have. His brother’s ex is off-limits. He just needs to keep repeating that to himself until it sinks in.
