Book CoverSandy M’s review of Mr. and Mr. Smith (Tough Love, Book 1) by HelenKay Dimon
Contemporary Gay Romance published by Loveswept 24 May 16

HelenKay Dimon has become a favorite of mine when it comes to gay romance. Two alpha males who have secrets to keep the other safe, and when all hell breaks loose, the tension in all its phases blows sky high. As usual, I couldn’t put this book down, needing to find out what happened next, and how Fisher and Zach are going to work their relationship out.

These two have been together for months, and the sex between them is hot and explosive. But when Fisher arrives home to a ransacked place and Zach is missing, he loses his shit. And then when he discovers Zach is deep undercover – more than the geek he pretends to be – betrayal sets in. Despite the fact Fisher has kept his true job from Zach. That’s what makes this book so intense, each wanting the other safe and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that happens.

Both men are totally upstanding when it comes to their jobs and they’re very good at what they do. Lots of action and blowing up things in between the spying and secrets. I love the banter – Ms. Dimon has a way with back-and-forth dialogue that goes from sensual to frustrating and then serious in a heartbeat. Amid all of this, there are some wonderful tender moments from all this hot sexiness going on. Fisher and Zach have a lot to get through, while Fisher does his best to keep the bad guys away from Zach, and I enjoyed every minute of them dodging, fighting, and loving.

For me, HelenKay Dimon’s books have it all and are worth every second spent getting to know her characters and living their lives right along with them.

Summary:

Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .

Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.
