Book CoverVeena’s review of A Sky Full of Stars (Shaughnessy Brothers, Book 5) by Samantha Chase
Contemporary Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 6 Jun 17

Ms. Chase has a talent for writing stories that touch the heart.  I have personally become more deeply engaged with this family with the release of each new story. As I read this newest book, I felt that it’s the best yet, plumbing emotional depths that I didn’t know I could bring to engage in a fictional love story.

While each of the Shaughnessy siblings have made a place in my heart, shy, awkward, and brilliant Owen has his own special spot. Their mother has such a deep impact on each one of her children, and I love how the author makes that the core of what has shaped each of them and how it’s as freeing for them when they find their HEA as it’s been painful for them until then.

Brooke, in contrast, is the total opposite of Owen. Outgoing, friendly, and confident, she can hold a conversation with anyone.  I love how they embark on an exploration of the city through what they each enjoy, giving them each a deeper insight into the other. Ms. Chase makes sure to take us back to North Carolina to catch up with the rest of the family, and it’s great to see babies making their appearance as the family slowly but surely deals with the place their mom holds in their lives.

I am happy to see the siblings find their HEA, but I am also sensitive to the fact that the series is winding down to, I believe, the last sibling.  I can’t wait for that book to release, even though it will mean saying goodbye to this wonderful family.

Grade: A

Summary:

He’s always looked to the stars
Now she’s the brightest light in his universe.

Brilliant astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy feels more connected to the cosmos than to people. He’s great with calculations, but when he leads a team of scientists to study a famous meteor shower, he doesn’t factor in his free-spirited artist assistant Brooke Matthews.

Polar opposites in personality, the friction between Owen and Brooke threatens to derail the project. But the beauty and mystery of the night sky draw them together—and she’s going to surprise him in ways the stars never could.
