In my search for something new and different, I came across this book by a brand-new-to-me writer. I found the characters refreshingly different, even if they are rock stars and total bad boys who fully embrace all that their fame brings them. The camaraderie between them and the darkness that haunts each one in a very personal way all went a long way to rock me and get me invested in the series.
Kate Napier is the best at what she does and is much sought after for her leather work. Apparently she can really make those pants FIT and will go to any lengths, including baring her boobs for lead singer Syon Braden, in order to fulfill her brand promise. She has these principles that she lives life by and Syon and his mates will help her break every one of them, especially when one of them has something to do with kissing a rock star. Not only does she break this one, but she goes a lot further than kissing.
The group is pretty unique in that they met in the Army and came together to take the world by storm with their musical talent. Each one of them seems to have a dark and interesting past, which we catch glimpses off here, but I can’t wait for their own individual stories when we’ll get to go behind the curtain, so to speak, and watch them find love and happiness on their own terms.
As Kate happily makes friends with the members of the band and focuses on creating unique costumes for them, all is not as well as it should be in her world. First someone slips a roofie into her drink, causing her to lose control in a mob of fans and landing her in the hospital.Then someone sabotages her costumes after she has a spat with Syon. Is she better off going back to home base and leaving the high-profile life of the band behind her? Does Syon even want a long-term relationship?
I enjoyed how the story all came together and can’t wait to see how the others in the series play out, since I am now hooked.
