Veena’s review of Taken (Holton Woods, Book 2.5) by Helen Kay Dimon
Erotic Romance published by Intermix 21 Apr 15

Elijah and Wade were first introduced to us readers as secondary characters in Mercy, the first book in this series.  The intensity and emotion between these two characters made quite the impression on me, even though I am not typically a fan of male on male. I’m glad the author chose to give these two men their very own story and reward, while creating the lead-in to the next story.

Wade has always known he’s gay and has openly acknowledged it, even under the pain of abuse from his gangster father. Elijah, on the other hand, openly uses sex with both men and women as necessary as a part of his job as a CIA agent, yet refuses to acknowledge the possibility of romance or a relationship with Wade.

While the sex is off the charts between the two men, they are actively trying to work their way toward a relationship and rebuilding trust that was once broken when Wade ended up kicking Elijah out of his bed and his rooms at the exclusive club where he lives and works. It doesn’t help when a guy who Elijah once had a sexual relationship comes into the picture, wanting to take up where he left off before.

While this story does not carry the sharp suspense of the other two stories in the series, it definitely packs a big emotional punch. The love scenes between the two men are intense and very explicit.

I enjoyed the journey of self-discovery and the forging of a truly meaningful relationship. If you’re into male/male romance, then this is a definite must read for you. If you’ve read the series before, it’s definitely a plus to catch up on all the characters we’ve met before and get a glimpse into a whole new cast of characters that we’ll be seeing more of.

Grade: A
