Veena’s review of The Enticement (Submissive Series, Book 4) by Tara Sue Me
Erotic Romance published by Nal 07 Apr 15
The ever popular Submissive series continues Abby’s and Nathaniel’s story and takes us into their life as a family: a married couple with two young children. How does a dominant/submissive couple balance the needs of a growing family with their needs as a master/slave couple? I have thoroughly enjoyed the series as I have walked with the characters, particularly Abby in her path from her first meeting and her desire to be trained to a collared slave to beloved wife to a mother balancing her family needs both private and social with the demands of a dominant husband.
The BDSM aspect which dominated Abby’s and Nathaniel’s life seems to have taken a back seat in the face of the demands of a growing family. As a homemaker Abby has enjoyed raising her children herself and taking the time to share her life as a submissive with others via a blog. Life couldn’t have been better when she’s offered an opportunity to take her blog to a wider public and tie it to a popular television series aiming to attract serious practitioners of the lifestyle.
Nathaniel is encouraging of his wife’s emerging career but also more dominant about the BDSM side of their relationship. Will they be like other couples who suddenly find their marriage getting derailed at the altar of competing needs and demands? I really enjoyed the re-kindling of their relationship and the emergence of aspects that Abby had never explored about her own submissive needs.
I empathized with Abby when for the first time her private life as Nathaniel’s wife conflicts with her role as his submissive when he makes her kneel at his side on their private plane. Her struggle with this new reality adds power and realism to the story. As Abby is struggling with the conflict between mother, wife, and, submissive, Nathaniel is perhaps more dominating and demanding than he’s ever been in their relationship as he expresses how important this aspect of their relationship is to him and his desire to rekindle and spend more time in their roles as dominant and submissive than just the small percentage they’ve been allocating to it recently.
As Abby struggles with his new demands and questions the basic tenets of a dom/sub relationship, I was perhaps as shocked if not more when Nathaniel reclaims Abby’s collar until she can regain her trust in him.
Dear Readers, as we all know, there are so many books featuring the varied shades of BDSM. What I enjoy the most about these series is the evolution of the relationship. Also as we all know, life and relationships don’t stand still; they are constant and ever changing, and, to me, that is the strength of this series as we grow along with Abby and Nathaniel and their two children and their new and emerging play partners and friends in the lifestyle.
Grade: A
