Veena’s review of The Chalet (Submissive Series, Book 3.5) by Tara Sue Me
Erotic Romance published by Intermix 21 Oct 14

So haven’t you often wondered what happens to the characters when the curtain is drawn at the happily ever after?Occasionally you get to see some of your favorite characters again if their story forms a part of a series. The new trend, however, seems to be for never writing “the end” to a story but continuing to milk the reader’s love affair with certain characters until both author and reader are exhausted. The Submissive Trilogy introduced us to Nathaniel West and his submissive Abby as they went through their paces as Dominant and submissive to form a perfect couple. In this novella the author continues their story into the wedding and honeymoon and will soon take us into the married life of a D/s couple.  I do confess that I enjoyed this sequel to the trilogy.

As the story begins the reader immediately notices how well the two have settled in with each other in a D/s relationship. As the wedding date approaches, Abby begins to feel that a month of abstinence will bring a level of intensity to their wedding night and honeymoon, just as it existed when they first met and were finding their rhythm as a couple. It’s cute how each one of them tire of their promise at different times and how their friends get a kick out of their promise. But because they’re a D/s couple, they understand delayed gratification does make the O’s outstanding, so they do manage to persevere all the way to the wedding.

Then the weather throws a  wrench in their plans and so while they had planned to spend their wedding night in a hotel, they’re forced to move up their departure to Europe and spend their wedding night on an airplane. As I read I thought Aha! we’re going to get the mile-high wedding night, but the author does one better by making them abstain another night until they’re settled in at their wedding destination.  As they do settle into the cute chalet that Nathaniel has rented for their honeymoon, the reader knows it’s going to be pretty memorable and the author definitely does not disappoint.

As they define the rules for the honeymoon and enjoy various elements of just sweet love as a couple, as well as the intensity of their D/s relationship, it makes interesting reading to see how their dynamic evolves and strengthens their relationship. This is erotic romance at its best with the creative and innovating D/s dynamic.

I find it a great continuation to the overall series, and since this is the honeymoon, it is refreshing to be spared any pain and angst.

Grade: A
