Veena’s review of Silence of the Wolf (Werewolves, Book 13) by Terry Spear
Paranormal Romance published by Sourcebooks Casablanca 04 Mar 14
I’ve read and enjoyed many books by Terry Spear before, but this one did not do anything for me. I know that the paranormal genre lets the author stretch their imagination along with the reader, but meeting each other and being attracted in one day to move to mated and expecting in less than a week, that’s too big a stretch for even me.
Elizabeth Wildwood is a half-wolf, half-coyote shifter mix who’s been rejected by both her father’s red wolf clan and her mother’s coyote clan. She’s made a life for herself far from shifter country, living and working like a human. However, she’s back in Silver Town, run by the Silver grey wolf pack. Tom Silver is assigned as her chaperone during her visit, but it seems that he’s fighting a losing battle keeping her safe from himself. Their first kiss lights up the ski slopes as well as the pockets of an enterprising pack member who shoots a video and then sells it for ten bucks apiece to the members of the pack, including Tom’s family.
And it seems that trouble has followed Elizabeth into Silver Town. First she’s pushed down a black diamond slope at the ski resort where she’s taking pictures for her magazine article and then her room is broken into and all her luggage is stolen from the B&B where she’s staying. Afraid to bring trouble to the pack that has shown her kindness, Elizabeth leaves only to come right back into Tom Silver’s path when she’s thrown out of a plane when it crashes and kills her kidnappers. Looks like even trouble knows that Elizabeth needs to be herded back to Tom.
The Silver brothers and the wolves of Silver Town seem to be very nice ‘people.’ I am sure that we’ll see some of these characters in future books and perhaps some of them have had their own books already, but I think this is one series that I will pass on for now.
