Veena’s review of Breathe by Lauren Jameson
Erotic romance published by NAL 03 Dec 13

Elijah Masterson is a Dom and owner of an exclusive chain of resorts that feature popular BDSM clubs. Samantha Collins is a poor artist who has erotic dreams and fantasies that she wants to explore further. They meet at an exhibit of erotic art where he reads in her art what her voice is afraid to express and makes her an offer she can’t resist. Four weeks as his submissive……

Samantha had a difficult childhood with an alcoholic mother who used rich men to fund her lifestyle. The only good thing to come out of this difficult childhood is her sister Beth for whom she would give anything. Elijah’s offer of money and patronage is very tempting, because it gives her an opportunity to create safety for Beth while exploring her deepest desires to learn to be a submissive.

Elijah soon finds himself falling deeply in love with his innocent, sensual companion. He’s been burnt before and his past colors his current experience, causing him to question things. And then when she runs off before their four weeks are up, he questions the foundation of their relationship.

Can they find a way to ford the breach and create that trust in each other that is so integral to a successful D/s relationship?

This book is well written with a great cast of supporting characters. I didn’t realize that this is the second book in the series and didn’t miss not having read the first. It doesn’t have the intensity of some of the other books in the genre that are out there, so it may actually appeal to a wider audience.

Grade: A

Summary:

When business mogul Elijah Masterson travels to the Mexican coast for his chain of luxury resorts, he purchases an emerald green glass sculpture for one of the properties. He is soon fascinated by the fiery temptress who created it. The attraction between them is instant and explosive, but Elijah resists, unsure that a woman as strong-willed as Samantha would ever yield in the way he needs her to.

Headstrong glass artist Samantha Collins hides a secret desire to submit to the right man. Samantha sees everything she wants in Elijah, but apart from one steamy night, he seems determined to keep his distance. She has always held back, but refusing to let go now that she’s found the dominant man she’s always wanted, Samantha makes Elijah an offer he can’t refuse: a month of absolute submission.

But after a month of incredible passion, will either of them be able to walk away?
