I think this is the character my lil sis has decided she would be perfect to play in the movie based on The Clique – Summer Collection: Massie by Lisi Harrison (Poppy, 1 Apr 08).
No, I am not kidding, I think they are already filming, though, so she will have to dream of the sequel… You can get updates on the movie here.
And read an excerpt from Massie’s book here. Go here for The Clique’s official site.
They’re apparently the hot thing in the YA set. I haven’t seen any of these or read them. Neither has the the lil sis, MUCH to her annoyance. I told her she is gonna have to slum it and buy them. I am hoping it is because they are novella’s – they didn’t ARC them and not because they sucked.
Of course… uh never mind… Think if I told her they are marketed to “ages 9 to 12” her 14 year old self would stop reading them? WHAT? I get this angry call last night that some girl at school has this book and, omg, she doesn’t! And how could I!
I mean really there is something so wrong with that, no? But I am not really awake yet to process it all.
Massie gets BE-yoo-tiful: After Massie Block gets kicked off her high horse and out of her ultra exclusive Westchester riding camp, her parents force her to do the unthinkable-find a summer job. Not one for dog-walking or brat-sitting, Massie comes up with the ah-bvious solution: She’ll be a sales rep for the cosmetics brand Be Pretty. Massie fully hearts her new role as fairy gawdmother of makeup-until she discovers transforming LBRs into glam-girls takes more than a swish of her royal purple mascara wand.
Can someone who has read this book tell me if it harps too much on consumerism? I think my daughter would like it, but I don’t want to get it for her if it’s going to influence her that way.
Oh she wouldn’t start here…
she would start with oops haven’t typed it up… It’s Not Easy Being Mean is here
