Blurb:

It’s hardly the type of wedding Fiona MacLean dreamed of. No family, no guests, just a groom who’s been dragged — literally — to the altar. But if marriage to Black Jack Kincaid, the handsome wastrel she’d sworn never to see again, will avert a bloody war between their clans, so be it. Surely she can share his bed without losing her heart….

Known throughout Scotland and London as a wild rogue, Jack is accustomed to waking in dire situations, but…married? Long ago, he and Fiona reveled in a youthful passion. Now, the fiery, sensual lass is his once more. And though their marriage is in name only, Jack is determined to win her forever — body and soul….

I’m thinking this was recommended to me because of my love of storms as I mentioned in this review. I also enjoy Regency era historicals. It was a no brainer for me to give How to Abduct a Highland Lord a shot. This is a romantic comedy. A witch has cursed the MacLean family with storms whenever they are angry. The curse is handled lightly, just a part of life, though, so it didn’t really have a big impact on me.

The humor was cute sometimes and fell flat other times. The hero and heroine were very predictable, to me, too. Then there was a totally unnecessary evil man and woman. It made me think of movies like Hot Shots where they deliberately pile on way too many plot devices to make it ridiculous.

I actually finished this book because when I put down every book I don’t like, I wind up with only positive reviews. That causes me to lose credibility. So, I pushed through and guess what? I decided that, while this book didn’t work for me, I may very well enjoy Karen Hawkins’ writing. Therefore, I will be reviewing the next book in the MacLean Curse trilogy, as well. Tune in for part II.
