We’ve been called out by KristieJ and her fellow Cravenators.
We inVincentators say…
It’s ON!
Sebastian St. Vincent RULES!
Holly over at Book Binge, in her good taste and wisdom, agrees with us. The Rowena had to go and ruin it with her Cravenator-ness!
Hell Yes, Seb Rules. Those poor misguided Cravenators. It’s almost sad, really.
π
I’ve just recently read DEVIL IN WINTER but I haven’t read DREAMING OF YOU yet. I guess I’ll have to so I can decide which “gang” to join π
I am a Derek fan all the way! Old school back at ya!
Damn, it’s bad enough that my Sybil to English translator is on the fritz, now I find out that the one person I could always understand has decided to speak in a foreign tongue.
GWEN, what the HELL are you peeople nattering on about?!
Sybilish is definitely a fun language, isn’t it Bev?
Okay – here’s the situation:
We say that Sebastian St.Vincent in Lisa’s DEVIL IN WINTER is a better hero than Derek Craven in Lisa’s DREAMING OF YOU
hmmppphhh! At least they coulda put some nice mantitty on the cover to help out since I haven’t read either of those!
Come to think of it? Why HAVEN’T I read those? I LIKE Lisa Kleypas!
Ohhhh no she didn’! Rowena has waded into the fray now!!
http://thebookbinge.blogspot.com/2007/10/oh-its-on-and-crackin-now.html
Mantitty covers. *snort*
She sure did, Gwen. We better take her down…
Bev it is like chocolate… you have to open it to get to the good stuff… in your case the mantitty bes on the inside of the book *g*
Derek > Sebastian
Monica said it perfectly! Sigh… Derek…
Syb, me love, I hate to do this but…..DEREK all the way, baby!!! ROFL
This is what I get for sharing my books with my younger sister…I was just telling her about your little debate of Derek vs. Sebastian and she said to put her vote in for Sebastian. The traitor. She’s lucky she’s blood and I love her…I could have disowned her over this…. LOL
hmph
Mad Mad mad HOW could you! Go and reread. And WOoT! mads sis!
Definitely Derek. I know I read DiW, and can’t remember whatshisname at all. He has disappeared into the blur. DoY, though – read it years ago, remember vividly.
Count me as a Vincentator. Vincenator? St. Vincentnator? Sorry, Kristie.
Derek! I guess that makes me a Cravenator. BUT, isn’t this splitting hairs just a bit. These are two awesome heroes and it’s like choosing between two different kinds of chocolate. Maybe I like dark chocolate just a teeny bit more, but milk chocolate still gets a big yes from me. LOL
Can I have both? π
Hee hee.
Me and my fellow Cravenators accept your challenge for a Rumble. We Will prevail!!
kristiej kristiej kristiej
We have been down this road before and St. Vincent won by a landslide didn’t he. Derek is an interesting hero but nothing can beat the inVincentators
Don’t get me wrong, I love Derek. I truly do. But St. Vincent, St. Vincent, St. Vincent, just the name makes me shiver. I have to vote Sebastian, all the way. I’m simultaneously happy and jealous of Evie. That’s a definite sign that a hero is amazing when I’m envious of a fictional character, or a sign of impending mental illness on my part, whatever. π
Oh it is ok Zara we like you that way *g*
Thanks Sybil! It’s nice to be accepted lol.
But the main question is if Derek and Sebastian were in a fight, who would get their ass kicked?
Derek would stomp on the pretty boy like no tomorrow.
Team Derek all the way!
ROFL katiebabs!
Nope… cuz Derek is softer at the end of the book. The thing that is so grand about Sebastian is he is a bastard to begin with and that is his job. He excels at his job *eg*.
Evie smooths his edges but at the core he is still Sebastian.
Where as Derek feels he has to change to become the man Sarah deserves, Evie wants the Sebastian she meet – just a faithful one.
To me Derek changes, Sebastian blends and merges traits without losing himself. Where as Derek is beside himself, dazed at the thought Sarah may be lost to him in the fire… Sebastian would have been moved to action immediately and licked his wounds later.
And that comes from Derek starting from nothing and having to claw his way to every lil scrap and Sebastian starting with everything, knowing it is his due, having looks, charm and the pose to say I don’t give a fuck – while smiling.
Don’t throw anything at me, but to be honest I wasn’t a big fan of Devil in Winter.
But Dreaming of You has a special place in my heart.
DEREK ROCKS. Sebastian is a poor substitute.
Count me in with the Cravenators!!! Team Derek all the way!
Oh Katiebabs, there is none so blind as she who cannot see lol. Now don’t throw anything at me, okay? I do like Derek, but I love Sebastion more. As Sybil pointed out, he always stays Sebastian even with Evie, just better (if that’s possible) lol. Derek did not think he was good enough for Sarah. I know that longing and show of vulnerability is part of what makes him great, but I have to admit I still like Sebastian’s approach better. π
Ah but Derek doesn’t really change – he just softens up for Sarah. He’d still kick Sebastian’s butt if Sarah’s life was on the line. Sebastian grew up in a world of luxury, but Derek started from nothing and built himself an empire. But yet he was so humbled by love that he would hide in the shadows and keep a pair of glasses in his pocket. So he was soft for Sarah right from the beginning. And how can you NOT love a hero who drops his H’s in times of stress I ask you?!?!?!
Ah Sybil – *g* no he didn’t. Before I took it off, Derek was ahead by one or two. Twas close, yes it was, but Derek beat Sebastian by a nose.
I liked Sebastian the best out of the 2. But I like all of her heros really.
That should be heroes.
Really Kristie? I don’t recall Derek being the same at the beginning of the book as he is at the end. So you think the opening Derek would break down and cry, while really no long wanting to run Cravens?
Well that does answer the question of why Sebastian is the better hero. He knows from the first page he is the best thing that could ever happen to Evie (or any woman). His changes in the DiW illustrate how be grows to become the best Sebastian he can be not because he ‘has’ too but because his love for Evie makes him want to be a better person.
He took a bullet for her… you wanna compare carrying around glasses (no doubt driving your lurve insane and costing her money while she looks for said glasses) to TAKING A BULLET.
inVincentators forevah
Eh any man can take a bullet. It takes a real men to break down and feel his life is over because the woman he loves he believes is dead. And then go crazy for revenge!
Aw the glasses in his pocket are so cute! It’s sneaky because Sara would be all like- “Yo, where are my glasses?” and Derek would respond- “Look in my pocket. ” Heh Heh.
See Derek can so cute and still be a hardass at the same time.
You tell her Kristie and Katie. Derek may be soft with Sara and has those cute moments with her, but he’s still hardass and dangerous at the core, a street-fighter from the get-go.
Just weighing in a week later to vote for Derik because (1) I haven’t read Devil in Winter yet and (2) Sybil and I have already discussed the fact that I have no taste. *G*
