STAG PARTY
Dane Hearne — also known as the Irish fertility god Cernunnos — must choose a bride quickly. When he meets American travel writer Megan St. Clair, he knows he’s found his soul mate. But while Dane is a sexy Irish hunk with his fair share of blarney, can he convince Megan to marry him in just one week?
Written from the MALE lead’s first person POV, Katie Mac gets extra points for trying something different. Great idea but, unfortunately, wrong character. Dane was really rather shallow and not too interesting. Additionally, this is one time I needed to be inside the FEMALE lead’s head because it was never clear just what attracted her to this guy (besides the physical). It often crossed the line from wacky into silly or confusing, but the Irish mythology was interesting.
Grade: C-
NORSE TRULY
Alrik Sigurdsson is cursed to sail his Viking ship along the same stretch of Scandinavian coastline forever. So when lovely American Brynna Lund skids her car off the road into the ocean, he and his men are happy for the diversion of rescuing her. Then Alrik discovers that Brynna is the only woman who can break the curse. Is it any wonder that he’s determined to keep her…forever?
Now this one was MUCH more enjoyable. The way Norse mythology was weaved into the modern age was clever and fun. It could have been a bit longer, just an additional paragraph or page at several key points that felt a bit rushed might have bumped this one up to a B+. Much of the humor was quirky rather than silly and appropriate to the situations.
Grade: B-
