As I have said, I am newbie in the area of Julia Quinn Romance Novels. Miranda was my first and The Duke and I was my second.

Now they say you always remember your first. And I have to . . .

This post was started by Sybil awhile ago, and I hijacked it because she hasn’t gotten back to it, and since I’m an unabashed Quinn fangirl and have read and own all of her books I figured, hey! I should so post about where to begin with Quinn.

Book CoverMy first Quinn was The Duke and I and it’s also the first book in the Bridgerton series. One of Quinn’s characters is introduced in this one, as well. Her name is Lady Whistledown and I’m sure everyone fell in love with her witty columns commenting on the gossip of society. Lady Whistledown’s identity is revealed in Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, book four in the series (and I think my favorite Bridgerton book), though she sparked two anthologies, with various authors contributing, and Lady Whistledown’s comments tying them all together.

Aside from the Bridgerton’s, a good place to start is her first book, Splendid. Quinn’s first book is a gem and the hero is near and dear to her heart, since he’s mentioned in a few of her other books, though he doesn’t make an appearence. Book CoverSeveral heroes and a couple of heroines have made appearances in other books, such as the various Bridgerton Siblings, the Earl of Macclesfield, William Dunsford, the Earl of Billington, and one of my personal favorites, Lady Danbury (not a heronie, but a great, and important at times, secondary character).

One other book to mention is one that I think gets passed over is How to Marry a Marquis. A play on a classic movie title, as well as The Rules. Everyone remember The Rules? Those stupid guidelines to tell a girl how to play hard to get to get her man. Quinn does a great job of satirizing The Rules through the heroine and hero’s actions and story of falling in love.

Starting with those three should be a launching point for anyone to become a Quinn fangirl just like me. 🙂
