Seconds aren’t like pennies. They can’t be saved in a jar and spent later. Fate seeps through cracks and shifts like fog. Pluck a second out of time or slip an extra one in, the consequences will change your life forever. Is the man you love really the man you think you know, or is there a version of your life in which he’s your enemy? If you didn’t know who or what you were before, would you take a chance on becoming that person again?
L. Roxanne Zaborovsky is about to discover fate is comprised of an infinite number of wires, filaments that can be manipulated, and that she’s not the one at the controls. From the roguishly charming Mason Merrick—a shadow from her increasingly tenebrous past—to the dangerously seductive Leonardo Kaysar, she’s barely holding on. This isn’t a game, and the pennies are rolling all over the floor. Roxy just has to figure out which are the ones worth picking up.
Wired is the debut book of Dorchester‘s new line. What new line you ask?
Make note of that, you are going to want to know more. I was shocked by how much I liked this book. The cover put me off, as I am not a Manga reader. I knew this was their new line. It was suppose to be action, edgy, exciting and different. I find that is never true and after I read the first few lines, my thoughts were… “FIRST person?!?”
By the end of the first chapter… I was hooked.
Check it out, I would love to hear what you think. And what was your first thought when you saw the cover? Like the Manga idea? And for those of you in the crowd wondering – like I was…
They ARE romance and will all have a HEA. You will need to buckle up your seat belt though because it will be one hell of a ride.
I CAN’T WAIT for this line. I’ve been excited since I first heard about it. I kept thinking…finally a line of books just for me. I like my heroines tough, I like my action kick ass and I like a non-stop thrill ride. I can’t wait to read this book, and Mari’s and Eves. And if all the stars aline…I can write for this line.
Very cool. I’m looking forward to reading it. I love manga.
I am very excited about this line. I have talked it up to everyone I know (surely you all must be sick of me by now). The two books I have read are very innovative and fresh.
I’ve just dipped the big toe in Manga, so not much for comparison for me. Although I’ve seen some really kick ass Manga covers so this cover didn’t bother me at all. I love you Sybil for the links you always provide because I always use them. I thoroughly enjoyed poking around the SHOMI site and am ready and eager to jump on the bandwagon and give this books a whirl.
I didn’t know anything about the new line, so I went and read the first chapter. Man, I’m so totally hooked now! Sounds like a great book.
Not thrilled about the cover though.
Ok I’m a little slow. These aren’t actually manga, they just have manga covers, right? Manga are like comics, right? (I feel stupid). I was a little put off by the cover, myself.
I’m up for anything that’s off the beaten path, and if these live up to the promise of the line description, I think it could be awesome!
Devon that is sort of what I am worried about! I wouldn’t have even picked this up because I would have thought ‘Oh Manga’.
But nope… the covers are just to be different and… uh… hell if I know. Ask a marketer *g*.
Go forth and read the excerpt.
They’re supposed to be attracting the younger woman in her twenties. The ones whose boyfriends probably read manga.
Yeah, don’t let the covers fool you – these are full length romance novels. Dorchester just wanted to do something unique to make them stand out from the crowd. I think, however, once the books are actually in stores it will be obvious that they aren’t comic books. 🙂
I got to read an ARC of WIRED and I loved it! So creative and different. But, of course, what else would you expect from the creator of Crimson City?
I had a blast writing my Shomi book (MOONGAZER – AUGUST). Dorchester really is great at letting authors color outside the lines and I consider myself so lucky to be a part of the Shomi launch. My ARCs should be ready any day now, but in the meantime, Dorchester posted an excerpt here. Let me know what you think! 🙂

Marianne
Isn’t Manga read by a huge female population. I love the covers because they are different and I think that they will standout because of that. If the right audience can find them, I also think this will be a successful endeavor.
Hey! Wow! You’re the first reader to weigh in on WIRED. (Thanks!) How psyched am I that you enjoyed it so much?! (It’s an exclamation point extravaganza!)
I have to admit, I am very worried about the covers. We’ll have to see how it goes.
Cheers,
Liz
Manga definitely has a strong female following, and a lot of the stories have a huge romance element. But as Marianne mentioned, notwithstanding the manga-style covers, the SHOMI books are full length romance novels.
I’m so excited about Liz and Marianne’s books. I had a chance to read an ARC of WIRED, but I have to wait for MOONGAZER like everyone else (sigh).
Dorchester has posted an excerpt of DRIVEN (September). Check it out and let me know what you think!

Eve
I also read the ARC of Wired and absolutely loved it. I loved the twists and turns, making me doubt who the hero really was, and just the concept was terrific! Great start to what is going to be one hell of as series.
