shomi logoThanks for inviting us to come chat about WIRED, MOONGAZER, DRIVEN and the new Shomi line. With Shomi, anything is possible.

Senior Editor says Shomi books are for “readers who keep fiction relevant: the progressive and voracious“, readers who “want something newer, fresher….” The worlds of Shomi are diverse and unique, amazing adventurous places that spin the reader fast-forward into the future of romance.

Book CoverLiz Maverick‘s WIRED (Shomi book 1, July 2007)
Publishers Weekly calls WIRED a fast-paced, genre-bounding novel “that grabs readers from page one, throwing together romance, science fiction and cyberpunk.” It’s a mash-up romance about a girl caught between two men, each of whom might be the hero or the villain…depending on which of the multiple realities they put her through is real.

Book CoverMarianne Mancusi‘s MOONGAZER (Shomi book 2, August 2007) is the story of a normal girl trying to discover her true identity after being thrust into a post apocalyptic alternate reality. A far cry from Marianne’s typical rom/com time travels, Romantic Times calls Moongazer is an “exciting and frightening new futuristic thriller.”

Eve Kenin‘s DRIVEN (Shomi book 3, September 2007) is very different than the historicals and even the contemporary paranormals she writes as Eve Silver. Set in a frozen wasteland, DRIVEN finds the heroine in a race for her life, pitted against ice pirates, rival truckers, a villain with a personal vendetta, and the amazingly gorgeous guy who’s hijacked her co-pilot’s
seat.

glittersyb by mlleelizabethI have had the chance to read WIRED and DRIVEN. I enjoyed both although have to admit Wired is written in first person and threw me for a moment because of my dislike of that POV but more on that later.

I am also lucky enough to have a copy of MOONGAZER, so I should have something more to say about that soon. The ARC’s all are labeled ‘Action Romance’ but I keep seeing ‘speculative romance’ thrown around. Maybe one of the authors can help explain what that means (or if they just let that word better 😉 ) and if the label on the books has changed or if they still say Action.

I have been told they are all romances and Dorchester is aware how important HEA is to that label. I know they are going for different and from what I have seen it is very much an anything is possible line. You will get different settings, different POV’s and different feels from each book. Seems like an awesome line for a writer because of that factor and so far looks like readers are going to be in for some great treats as well.

For the next three days the talented debut Shomi authors will be around to answer questions, help us become more familiar with the line and why we should give the ride a try. And of course, there will be prizes as well ;).
