Our first Harlequin Historical author just happens to be one of my most favorite evah. Cheryl St. John has written some of the best historicals that harlequin has seen.

Sweet Annie, The Doctor’s Wife, Joe’s Wife, Prairie Wife and His Secondhand Wife all seem to fight for the number one spot depending on if I am reading it at the time or not. She can revisit characters she has created, as she does in The Preacher’s Daughter without losing any of the quailty or emotion found in the prior book.

Not only has she written two of my favorite Montana Maverick books (Gunslinger’s Bride and the recent The Bounty Hunter), she keeps a list of the series up on her site. It has spanned from Harlequin Historical to Silhouette Special Edition and it’s own special series to Harlequin Special Anthologies.

And she is also responsible for me picking up my first SSE, so my category downfall can be laid at her feet *g*. Cheryl St. John is the first author who springs to my mind when I think of Harlequin Historical and always one of the first I recommend. If you have never tried one, I strongly suggest looking for one of the titles in this post. Or checking out her backlist, although personally I wouldn’t start with Badlands Bride or Saint or Sinner. Just saying *g*.

And I have never read her first book, in fact I have to say I do not even own Rain Shadow and still have Heaven Can Wait and The Mistaken Widow to be read. Anyone read them yet? What are your favorites?
