Tristan de Barre, Lord of Dreadmoor and called the Dragonhawk was murdered and cursed to roam his castle in 1292. His loyal band of knights (there arefourteen of them) are cursed along with him and they live out their afterlives still jousting, sword fighting, and watching rugby matches at Dreadmoor castle. One night a storm uproots an oak tree in the bailey which shows the remains of a man and a horde of weapons.

Tristan allows American forensic archeologist Andrea Monroe, or Andi, to come excavate the site in hopes that it could possibly lift the curse on himself and his band of knights. Andi has been wanting to come back to Dreadmoor since she was eighteen and poked around the castle and saw a ghost of a knight. What she discovers though is Tristan is the knight she met years ago and after truths are told they fall in love.

Andi is smart, she’s got a PhD, so she’s got a brain and it’s nice and not surprising that she figures things out pretty quickly. It takes her a bit to wrap her mind around the idea of falling for a medieval knight who’s also a ghost. It would take alot of faith and chutzpah for any woman to wrap her mind about that idea.

There’s lots of chemistry and sizzle between the two leads, but the one sex scene isn’t enough. It’s understandable though, since Tristan is a ghost and he’s not wholly on this plane. Andi can’t touch him, and it’s one big problem that they have to overcome. There’s really no cause for complaints though because the story is cute, well paced and the fourteen loyal knights are a hoot.

Tristan and Andi deal with the curse on his and his knights souls well, there’s no moment where you think she’s done something stupid, but some of the plot points are a little predictable. It’s not throughout the whole story though, Miles gives a few twists and makes the characters believable in their actions.

It’s a charming, light read and there is one review that compares it to The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, which I kind of agree with, though I haven’t seen the movie in a long time. Cindy Miles is a new author and if you like paranormal/ghost romances I recommend this one.
