Castle of the Wolf by Sandra Schwab
Celia Fussell’s father is dead, and she reduced to the status of a poor relation in the house of her brother, the new baron, and his shrewish wife. A life of misery looms ahead.
But, no. There is hope. Deep in the Black Forest, in the Great Duchy of Baden, stands Celia’s inheritance. Among fir trees so dark they almost look black The Castle of Wolfenbach rises. It is a fortress of solitude, of secrets, of old wounds and older mysteries. But it is hers. And only one thing stands in her way: its former master, the hermit, the enigma…the man she is obliged to marry.
You can read an excerpt here and Dear Author has a review up here.
This is one of the many I hope to get a review up for soon.
Sybil, thanks for posting such a big version of my delicious blue guy-in-the-sky! 🙂
I want this book! But I really want it in ebook. Sandra, do you know if there is any chance of that happening, within some sort of reasonable timeframe?
My ploy is to start harassing authors who will in turn harass their publishers. So far I’m not sure it’s working so well. 😉
I’m waiting till it’s available in ebook as well.
Hmmm Jane A I am not sure that would work. In some cases maybe but I think that is backward, if readers bug the publishers it might get better results.
maybe… either way I am not sure if Dorchester does any ebooks yet. I have sent an email off to Dorchester though to see what the 411 is at this time. I want to say Jane at Dear Author has talked about Dorchester and ebooks but I can’t say for sure.
Jane & Keishon, Dorchester has retained the e-book rights, but I haven’t heard anything about e-books yet. Actually, I haven’t heard anything about e-books from fellow Dorch authors either.
Of course, the advantage of the print version is that you can always run to your bookshelf to admire the blue guy-in-the-sky. Actually, the way he looks at you from under lowered lashes reminds me of the logo of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, in which the swans are all danced by men in feather-trousers and with white-powdered torsos. Rather yummy, in fact. 🙂
Sybil, Okay I went and wrote Dorchester, too. I know Jane at DA has probably addressed this particular publishing house, but I couldn’t find her post in looking quickly for it. Anyway, it can’t hurt to have both readers and authors asking for ebooks, right? 🙂
Sandra, We’d still have Mr. Blue Guy in the Sky, usually the covers come through, also. Might be a little smaller, but he’d still be enjoyable. LOL
Got to add this one to my list as well.
