So I’m at RT and I haven’t even blogged on my own blog. But I get this email from Sybil saying “send me a letter”. Being a good friend and ever obedient, I immediately started typing this one out. Did I mention I haven’t even blogged on my own blog? I arrived in Houston on Tuesday night and it’s been one long blur of meeting people. Of course, I’ve gotten to meet most all of the Samhain authors who are attending. I’m afraid to try to name them for fear I’ll forget someone and they’ll read this and dump a drink on me in the bar for leaving them off my list. But I’ve met everyone from Shelly Laurenston, Maya Banks, Beth Williamson and Annmarie McKenna to Lauren Dane, Mackenzie McKade, Sasha White and Alexis Fleming (all the way from Oz!). That’s really only a small portion of the Samhain authors here. We’re well represented in force! And of course, my lovely friend Mandy Roth is here. I know because she gave me a 7:45 wake-up call this morning (after I’d been in the bar until 2am).
RT is always a big party and I’m fairly certain you can find someone awake and looking for a chat at any time of the night or day. The best part of RT is the people. Getting to actually have face time with all of the people you’ve been corresponding with via email for months or even years. It’s so invaluable to put a face to the name on the screen. Of course, because RT is one big party, the days are loooong. As I type this, I snuck up to my room for the one free hour I have before the night’s festivities begin.
I’m having a blast at RT and I wish everyone could be here to enjoy the experience. I have to share with you my biggest fangirl experience of the conference so far…Linnea Sinclair. I’ve been reading her books since she started out in epublishing years ago. So, to steal a word from Sybil…squeeeee! I’ve gotten to have several conversations with Linnea in the past few days and she is fabulous—funny, personable and so friendly and welcoming.
RT isn’t quite halfway over yet and while I miss my family, I’m so glad to be in a place where there’s a thousand people gathered because they love something as much as I do…the romance genre!

pssttt for the record, she blogged *g*
The worst part is she keeps calling me. From the bar. So I can talk to everyone.
And I’m NOT there! Argh!
Okay, so I did tell her to call me, but still, it’s torture. And we know Angie enjoys torturing me.
*g*
hmph she doesn’t call me, oh no she just calls me a troublemaker
ME! I know I was shocked too.
Sybil how do you get people to do this stuff for you? I’m in awe. Jaci, nothing worse than being called from a really rockin’ party is there?
BTW, I had to laugh at the tag “Having fun without Sybil”. Got alot of entries? I didn’t think so.
Well you see, I have these pictures of angie and.. but really no reason to go into that!
tra la la
LOL the complete tag is “No fair having fun without sybil” which I think says it all *g*
so am i liked totally crazy since i’m not upset about not hitting RT?
At all?
I was invited to be in on two different author functions, with some tres wonderful authors, but it came down to a family vacation… or a convention. I’m sorry. The beach will win out every time. And I’m quite happy with it.
Besides, if I had been at RT, I might not have gotten to read my very cool news when I did.
