Who says you all get to ask all the questions???
Here’s the thing – I’m going to the RWA National convention in Dallas in July and haven’t been in Dallas for about 15 years. There are some things I desperately need to know.
Like…
1. What restaurant/bar serves the best margaritas? Not the frilly girl kind – I want a plain margarita on the rocks, made with fresh squeezed lime juice. A big tart whonk of a margarita.
2. Best bbq? It has to be messy or it isn’t real.
3. Best Tex Mex? There are no real nachos or fajitas outside of TX. You all knew that; now I do.
4. Best Mexican restaurant? Some carnitas can be just the thing on a hot summer’s night.
I can’t help you. I’ve never been there. Margaritas and Mexican. Yummy! Can I come with? lol
I need to know the answers to those questions too! And I love a good margarita on the rocks with good tequila. And salt on the rim. Mmmmm.
BBQ= Sonny Bryan’s. The place is a legend. There is no seating, you get your order and pretty much just sit on the hood of your car. BYOB, or getcha some sweet tea.
Ritas= My best rec is Primo’s on McKinney Ave. Also good guac and salsa, but don’t have dinner there.
Tex Mex= Luna de Noche, Ojeda’s, Avila’s. Both Ojeda’s and Avila’s are on Maple Ave. If you can make time, and I seriously recommend it, road trip over to Ft. Worth and go to Joe T. Garcia’s for righteously good Tex-Mex and serious margaritas
Mex Mex= Cuquita’s, Monica’s Aca y Alla (Main St. Location) Monica’s is “hipper” and they often have live entertainment. It’s also in Deep Ellum, which is the main entertainment district.
Trivia: Monica used to be Eduardo, who used to be my boss. π
Have fun, Dallas is a GREAT city for food! I miss working there, just not living there.
hell I live in texas and couldn’t tell ya… but when you find out you can take jane and me out for one π
Heh. . .Dallas is a bit far from us Syb dear. . .I’ve got friends in DFW I could ask though if you give me a day or two. π
THANK YOU, LAURA!
I think I love you. π
Hey, anyone who eats carnitas is a friend of mine. π See if you can get ahold of some barbacoa for breakfast.
I forgot Blue Mesa for margaritas, they have a huge selection of tequilas to pick from.
