Midnight Temptation by Dee Tenorio

Genre: Contemporary
Grade: B-

Can a man who knows he shouldn’t, resist a woman who knows she can’t?

Raven Remington has secrets. Only one of which is how badly he wants his personal assistant, Vanessa Kaye, the beauty who refuses to be anything more than professional. A smart man would remove himself from temptation, but Raven can’t quite make himself ignore the longing in her eyes or the taste of her kiss. Soon, neither of them can fight their passion.

What Raven doesn’t know is that Vanessa has secrets of her own…

Midnight Temptation is the sequel to Midnight Sonata (last book in trilogy Midnight Legacy no release date). I, of course, read them completely out of order and started with the second book. It stands alone well, at least the story does when you consider ‘the story’ to be the romance. The overall series, The Remington’s, is very soapy and there are parts of Midnight Temptation that would have had more meaning if read in order.

Vanessa tries to stand on her own two feet to the point she does some stupid things. Her big secret didn’t seem like something she had to keep from Raven. And Raven doing what he does to the car instead of just buying a different one, made no sense to me. The only thing I could think of was he was working out some anger issues. How is that for cryptic… don’t you want to run out and get it now *g*. There is a big cast of characters here and it plays out like something out of Dynasty or Dallas. Of course I was big fan’s of both.

I really hope Samhain continues to give us contemporary stories like this one. If you are a harlequin fan, you will love it. If you aren’t a fan of Harlequinish, virgin, executive assistants learning to run their boss’s life from the bedroom, this isn’t for you.
