Question: Is A REASON TO LIVE the first book in a series?
MM: Yes, although each can be read as a stand alone. Each book is about one of the three Forrester brothers.
In A REASON TO LIVE, there’s Creede, the oldest brother. The next book, A REASON TO BELIEVE, is about Rye, the youngest. And the final will be Slater’s story.
Raised in an orphanage and having lost touch with his brothers Creede and Slater, Rye Forrester joined the army at the age of eighteen. After losing his wife and child, he turns to alcohol and loses his career and self-respect when he’s branded a deserter and dishonorably discharged from the army.
When Dulcie McDaniel’s army husband dies after falling off a saloon roof, she uses the only thing she has to get her and her daughter back home to Texas–herself. Back on her father’s run-down farm, she vows never to rely on a man again despite her passionate nature. When her father–a drunk–is lynched for a murder she believes he didn’t commit, she’s determined to find the real killer.
Rye Forrester has come all the way to Texas to find Dulcie and repay a debt–he feels responsible for her husband’s death. He offers to work for her for room and board, an arrangement Dulcie can’t refuse. Working together, Rye and Dulcie come to terms with their past sins and learn self-forgiveness. They also come to realize love doesn’t imprison, but frees the heart.
It sounds like one of those stories that you can’t put down once you start. Karen

Cathie–I haven’t gotten a release date yet on the second, A REASON TO BELIEVE, but I’m assuming summer/fall of 2007. As soon as I know, I’ll be posting it at my website. Thanks for asking!
