First, I would like to say that Inside Lady Miranda is not a double entendre. Yep, Lord Nicholas Barbour, or The Barb as they call him, has laid ten thousand pounds on the woman who can bring him to satisfaction while inside her. Apparently The Barb (named after the horse) is, shall we say, well endowed.
Lady Miranda is a bit of a cliche. She married a man old enough to be her grandfather who only had sex with her once and then chose to look at her rather than hold her until his death. Of course, he left her completely bankrupt and she needs money, bad. Hence, Miranda trying her hand at The Barb’s wager.
Barbour’s Folly, as Lord Nicholas’s home was adequately named, had been the seat of his debauchery for years. Taught his rakish ways by his own father, Nick was becoming dreadfully bored with his life and this stupid wager that was forged over six years ago. Choosing not to loose his head in the bottle as many of his guests regularly do, Nicholas leaves his own party at midnight; his self-determined nightly exit from the depravity of his salon. Little did Nicholas know when he walked out of the salon that night that he was leaving his past and walking towards his future.
I was wondering how Miranda, the proper lady from Yorkshire, was going to satisfy The Barb. Have no fear; it is not with her innocence that she seduces him but with her knowledge. Knowledge? Yes, it seems that dirty old hubby of Miranda’s had a naughty room and a mistress, both of which Miranda finds and uses to their full ability. I was a bit shocked with the girl on girl action and it is not something that I usually seek out or even enjoy, but it was presented as a learning experience and was rather short lived.
The story really begins when Nicholas meets Miranda:
“She stood in the open French door, silhouetted by the moonlight. From the top of her carelessly coiffed flaming red hair to the tips of her shoes, she was magnificent. Clad all in black, the white mounds of her breasts were close to overflowing the inadequate dress and begging for some man’s hands to set them free. She was masked, but the firelight danced in the emerald green depths of her eyes, and her generous lips curved in a smile.”
And who could do anything but love a book that quotes The Tempest to develop a sex scene?
The ending was very convenient and a word of warning, even though this is an Ellora’s Cave Quickie, it has an epilogue.
