Why it is a bad idea that RWA define what romance is and in turn what ‘morals’ are right or wrong?

I seem to think it had to do with no one person could be expected to have the right to decide what romance was to everyone. And that each person had the right to decide how to live or what they believed in. Morals are subjective, what one person thinks is right another might think is wrong.

Weren’t we (authors, readers and such) upset they (RWA, TTQ and whoever) felt they had the right to be judge and jury over romance, romantica, erotica romance and/erotica?

Didn’t we think they were being judgmental? And they should be more open minded and allow each person to decide for themself what was good or bad?

Or did I misunderstand?
