The fourth book of the Immortals After Dark series did not disappoint. I’m also beginning to think Ms Cole unearths something twisty in me, because my favorite heroes that she writes are the crezzies. Conrad Wroth is teetering on the brink of insanity. Actually, he’s mad as a hatter. He’s killed more that one can count, and he has all of their memories. That’s a lot of memory for one head. Too much.

Maybe it’s my mood, or my brain has melted, but this book just didn’t do it for me. I’m one of those readers that always wants more, more, more emotion. I wouldn’t mind if 90% of a book was just the characters developing their relationship. In fact, I prefer it. It’s why I read romance. I don’t need a sub-plot, no thriller or mystery, precocious child or serial killer. (Yes, an interesting list there.) While this book is all about Catherine’s angst and her relationship with her husbands - it didn’t grip me. The first 21 pages just said the same thing. A lot. Catherine is sad. She’s pregnant. She’s lonely.

I think I need to preface my review with the statement that I like Harlequin as a publisher. A lot. In fact, I probably spend twice as much on Harlequin books as I do on groceries. [And I buy from the site with discount codes - so imagine. Scary.]

Anytime, Anywhere by Shannon McKenna
I’ve been waiting for another MacNamara story ever since I read Meltdown in Bad Boys Next Exit, years ago. Anytime, Anywhere is a good novella, don’t get me wrong, but I think I was expecting more. Robin was a little shaky in the beginning, but she really came into herself at the end. Jon was a typical McKenna alpha hero, someone who forces you to like him, even though you might be wondering why you’re in his corner. I felt the emotional connection between Robin and Jon a little lacking. She’s had a thing for him for fourteen years.

Proof that online promotions do work. I saw this book on blogs everywhere, and finally had to go and read it. I’m glad I did.
This is the first book in the Tulanes of Tennessee series (and it always made me think of the University in N’awlins…). I was a little skeptical starting the book, but it got me. We’re introduced to Darcy Rhodes minutes after her car has an unfriendly meeting with a guardrail on a mountain road. Luckily, Garret Tulane happens to come by.
