Rogue is not a romance novel but one has to give kudos to whoever it was that made that poll because no way would it or this book have gotten as much attention from the romance blogland without pulling our strings and watching us get puffy. The joke is Danielle Steel is a 'guilty pleasure' read or a 'beach read' or whatever stupid sayings they dust off every June. I have loved me some trashy fiction and more smutty reads than I can remember, sadly this isn't even that. I would say it was something close to Reality TV only it isn't that deep. Read more

I first discovered HelenKay Dimon in the anthology When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys, with her story Hardhats and Silk Stockings. I really enjoyed it, and was so excited to find out that she had a continuation of sorts on the story coming out. Actually, I didn't know this was an anthology at first, but this format is perfect. With Hotter than Hell, HarperCollins goes in a somewhat different direction from their previous Hell anthologies. These are erotic short stories rather than novellas. It's worth picking up if you're very fond of one of the authors or wish to experience several of the authors' work before buying their series. While all of the stories are well-written and none are truly awful, many of the stories are forgettable or unsatisfying. Read more

Although I've never read a book by Saskia Walker before, I have to admit, what I got wasn't quite what I was expecting. However, that's not always a bad thing, and it this case, it wasn't. Angela Knight writes some of the steamiest, far-out books I've ever read. They almost always have uber-alpha heroes and generally have strong heroines. Warrior is no exception. It has an alpha hero in spades, a heroine that rocked, and some sci-fi details that even Shannon will like. Read more

Did you notice Karma Girl has a new cover? Discussion anyone? Is it better or worse than the first one? I've got to say I'm not a fan of the real person on the cover rather than the sort of comic book look of the first one. Of course the new cover is due to the fact that Karma Girl and Hot Mama are getting reissued in mass market in anticipation of the next book in the series, Jinx, being released in September.

I've heard a lot of about Ellora's Cave, both its books and in general, and I decided to read one of their "quickies" to find out for myself. The premise was interesting, and I generally enjoy variations on the friends-to-lovers and forbidden love themes. The book started off well, and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoy Susan Mallery's books - both her novels, and the categories she writes. There's a special quality to her writing that keeps me coming back for more. In a way, I equate her with Diana Palmer - because her writing is loosely formulaic, and in a way you know what you're going to get (N.B. I mean this as a good thing). Ms. Mallery is an author I make note of, and read her books as soon as I can get my hands on them. In fact, I pretty much picked up Sweet Talk at 1 AM, and read it until I finished it at 4 AM.
