REVIEW: No Stopping Now by Dawn Atkins
August 31, 2008
Limecello's review of No Stopping Now by Dawn Atkins
Contemporary romance released by Harlequin Blaze on 1 Apr 08
I haven't read a book by Dawn Atkins before, but Harlequin Blaze is one of my category go-to lines, and No Stopping Now was a great find. The story wasn't quite what I was expecting, and it was a pleasant surprise. A thoughtful, well written story with a little bit of everything, I'm glad I picked up this book.

REVIEW: A Rogue’s Game by Renee Bernard

Sandy M's review of A Rogue's Game (Mistress Trilogy, Book 3) by Renee Bernard
Historical Romance published by Pocket 29 Apr 08
I really liked the gambling, winner-risk-all aspect of this book. The author had fun with it and, thus, so did I. She brought two unique characters together in an equally unique way, gave them uncertain futures but a lust for freedom and living and a banter that made getting to know them a game in itself. Connie's Quick Quack review of Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet
Contemporary fantasy romance hardcover released by Little, Brown 28 Apr 08
Jane Margaux grew up as a lonely single daughter of a Broadway producer. She really only saw her mother on Sundays when they went to Tiffany's together. She was never the "beautiful daughter" everyone expected her mother to have and was a little on the chubby side. Jane had an invisible friend named Michael who kept her company and got her through the lonely years until her ninth birthday and then he had to leave her to go to help some other lonely child. Contemporary romantic suspense often walks a fine line between the various elements that make them up. How to be contemporary without overloading on technical details. How to be romantic without sacrificing the suspense. How to be suspenseful without sacrificing the romance. This book didn't do such a good balancing job. Read more

Limecello's review of Fallen (7 Deadly Sins, Book 2) by Erin McCarthy
Paranormal Romance released by Berkley Jove 29 Apr 08
Erin McCarthy is one of my favorite romance authors. My expectations may have been too high, because Book 2 of the Seven Deadly Sins series unfortunately disappointed. I felt that the story didn’t truly begin until chapter 9. The story moved too slowly for me, and I felt that the action didn't begin until the nearly the end, and it became rushed. I also would have liked a bit more romance. Read more

Shannon C.'s review of Lawless by Emma Wildes
Historical western erotic romance ebook published 1 Apr 08 by Samhain Publishing
I love westerns, and I don't even really have a problem with violence in my books, so Lawless looked interesting to me. Bad-boy hero? Nothing sexier. Heroine who probably wouldn't drive me crazy? I am so there. And at first, I loved the book. Lawless started out extremely well, with an action scene that got me immediately hooked on the story and the characters. Unfortunately, the early promise of that scene quickly fizzled, and it took me much longer than it should have to actually finish. And this is one of Samhain's shorter novels.

Shannon C.'s review of These Boots Were Made for Stomping by Julie Kenner, Jade Lee, and Marianne Mancusi
Paranormal romance anthology released Love Spell 22 Apr 08
Normally, I would never have picked up an anthology like this. My footwear consists of... uh... tennis shoes and maybe, for special occasions, the flats that are hidden somewhere in the back of my closet. I am the ultimate casual dresser, and the only real concession to cosmetics I make involves perfume. So the premise that three women can find exactly what they want from life thanks to the right footwear strikes me as really silly and shallow. On the other hand, I do love Julie Kenner, and Marianne Mancusi is an author I've always thought I would like. And, surprise surprise, I really liked this anthology, all feminist quibbles aside.

Gwen's review of Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet
Contemporary fantasy romance released hardcover by Little, Brown 28 Apr 08
This little book was hanging around in a pile that I got from Sybil a while back. I wasn't all that interested in it, if only because I've never had luck when a favorite author ventures away from what I like about them. Patterson is one of my favorite non-romance authors (LOVE the Alex Cross novels, LOVE the Women's Murder Club books, and I even love his YA book, Maximum Ride) and here's he's tried a romance? Oh no, I thought, he's going to ruin it for me. Now I'll never be able to read him again. Well... Read more

Give me a good shifter story any time. If it's a wolf shifter story, it's that much better. A sexy-as-sin, handsome, alpha, immortal shifter. What's better than that? Read more
