REVIEW: Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts
Sandy M’s review of Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts
Contemporary Romance published by Putnum Adult 16 Apr 13
I have so enjoyed getting back to reading Nora Roberts over the last few years. I read her a lot way back when, then read less and less as I got more and more review books. But I’ve been lucky to receive most of Nora’s releases for a while now, and, as the old saying goes, it’s nice to be home.
REVIEW: Wrecked by Shiloh Walker
Sandy M’s review of Wrecked by Shiloh Walker
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 2 Apr 13
Shiloh Walker never disappoints the reader in me. Her characters are always intriguing, people you’d like to know. And the way she weaves a story together is imaginative and fun. However, it’s the emotional impact of her work that always resonates with me. It’s a soul-deep impact that pulls me further into the book, has its hooks in me until the very end. So while Wrecked is a very good read, for me the emotional punch I’ve come to expect from Ms. Walker doesn’t hit as deep as it usually does.
REVIEW: Love Irresistibly by Julie James
Veena’s review of Love Irrestibly (FBI/US Attorney Series, Book 4) by Julie James
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley 02 Apr 13
I believe I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating : Julie James is one of the best contemporary authors that I have read. I love the depth of her characters and relate to them as though they are a part of my extended network of friends and family. I see them as real people, leading real lives. I can close my eyes and see myself having dinner with them or sharing a glass of wine. Didn’t I run into Brooke and Cade when I was out with my friends over the weekend. I’m sure that I did! but those were their doppelgangers who live in Los Angeles, while they live in Chicago – but wait! Brooke and Cade are not real, they are fictional characters who exist between the pages of a great book.

Michelle Conder is a new writer to Harlequin, and while her first book didn’t do it for me, this second one is a good read. And that’s what we’re looking for, isn’t it?
GUEST REVIEW: No Turning Back by HelenKay Dimon
Willa’s review of No Turning Back (Hanover Brothers, Book 1) by HelenKay Dimon
Contemporary Romance published by InterMix 19 Mar 13
I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book in a recent competition here and Sandy M begged, pleaded and wept asked me if I would like to do a review of it. So after much consideration and sending of chocolate my way, I agreed.
EXCERPT: The Wild Ones by M. Leighton
I’m glad this is the excerpt Ms. Leighton has shared with readers. It’s my favorite scene in the book. So much so I used a small part of it my in review of the book today. It sets the scene for these characters, puts the reader in the perfect state of mind to learn their story.
As much as I like Cami, it’s Trick I’ll remember for a long time, as you’ll see when you read this excerpt. And he only gets better as the story grows.
Summary:
Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.
Camille “Cami” Hines is the darling daughter of the South’s champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.
But that was before she met Patrick Henley.
“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He’s considered the “help,” which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.
The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.
When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.
EXCERPT: Down to You by M. Leighton
This book is full of intense fun, from the way the hero and heroine meet to those smokin’ love scenes. And then there’s just the plain intensity of Olivia’s indecision over which twin brother is best for her and the story she learns about their past, as well as the lasting effects of that past.
So you get a little bit of everything in Down to You. And the best part? There’s more of Cash/Nash and Olivia to come later in Book 2. My curiosity is killing me to see what Ms. Leighton comes up with in that story, if she’s able to top what she’s done in this book. Only time will tell.
Summary:
The scorching tale of one girl and two brothers in a love triangle…that’s not.
Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white.
But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.
Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her.
Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.
Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them.
Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire.
She wants them both.
And they want her.
How will she ever choose between them?
Enjoy these short excerpts as you get to know the twins and their lady…

Sandy M’s review of The Wild Ones by M. Leighton
Contemporary Romance published by Berkley Trade 5 Mar 13
After reading Ms. Leighton’s Down to You, I was eager to get started on this book. I like her style of writing and enjoy her characters. As much as I liked that Bad Boys book, I like this one even better.
GUEST BLOG: Inspiration by M. Leighton
That’s a loaded question. For me, anyway. I’m asked this question often and, as usual, I don’t have a pat answer.
