REVIEW: Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly
Dinca’s review of Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Kiss 1 Dec 12
Harlequin Kiss is a new contemporary romance category. Waking Up Married is currently a free download from Amazon. This is a delightful short story, a bit on the funny side with a surprise ending. Ms. Kelly has developed a new take on an old storyline, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
REVIEW: An Invitation to Sin by Sarah Morgan
LynneC’s review of An Invitation to Sin by Sarah Morgan
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents 21 May 13
The last time Sarah Morgan contributed to a continuity series, I was a tad disappointed, but I enjoyed this one very much. It’s a problem when a writer with a voice as distinctive as Morgan is asked to use characters and situations she didn’t create herself or only had a part of creating, but the characters suit her well—the bad-boy hero and the woman who has much more about her than she originally seems.
REVIEW: Brenna Spector Series by Alison Gaylin
Laura C’s review of And She Was & Into the Dark (Brenna Spector Series, Books 1 & 2) by Alison Gaylin
Thrillers published by HarperCollins Feb 2012 & Jan 2013
Brenna Spector, the protagonist of Gaylin’s And She Was and Into the Dark, is one of the most interesting characters I’ve come across in a long time. She suffers from Hyperthymestic Syndrome, which most of us know as “that thing where you can’t forget anything.” Of course, the one thing she desperately wants to remember—the day her older sister disappeared, which was the trigger for the beginning of her disorder—is the thing she cannot.
EXCERPT: A Throne for the Taking by Kate Walker
A Throne for the Taking is Kate Walker’s 61st book for Harlequin/Mills and Boon. It’s the story of an ordinary, everyday, sexy-as-hell prince and the woman he’s known for most of his life, who turns out to be the One for him.
Alex thinks he’s escaped the stifling world of prince-dom, but the woman he’s never been able to forget has returned to tell him that he must return. Despite his reluctance, Alex knows he can’t escape this time, but he wants compensation, and that includes Ria.
DUCK CHAT: Funnin’ Around with Kate Walker
Kate Walker writes for Mills and Boon Modern/Harlequin Presents. Her stories have included adaptations of the classics, sexy Italian billionaires and now she’s added a European prince to her tally. She was kind enough to visit the TGTBTU office and answer the questions thrown at her by intrepid reporter Lynne Connolly.
The author of a great non fiction book, Kate Walker’s 12 Point Guide to Writing Romance, as well as 61 (yes, 61!) category romances, Kate shows no sign of slowing down soon and is working on her next book. We can’t wait!
REVIEW: A Throne for the Taking by Kate Walker
LynneC’s review of A Throne for the Taking by Kate Walker
Contemporary Romance published by Harlequin Presents 21 May 13
A Throne For The Taking features a mythical, small country in Europe, a handsome prince, a beautiful princess—well, a Grand Duchess—and romance. In fact, a classic Mills and Boon romance.
REVIEW: How To Seduce A Sheikh by Marguerite Kaye
Wendy the Super Librarian‘s review of How To Seduce A Sheikh by Marguerite Kaye
Historical romance short story ebook published by Harlequin Historical Undone 01 May 13
I like reading short stories for a variety of reasons, and when they come together well, they can be tasty reads encapsulated in a small package. While I generally enjoy Marguerite Kaye’s historicals and have enjoyed her shorts in the past, this is an instance where I think the plot and characters bite off more than can be chewed in 60-some pages.
REVIEW: Ten Reasons to Stay by Sabrina Jefferies
Veena’s review of Ten Reasons to Stay (School for Heiresses, Book 3) by Sabrina Jefferies
Historical Romance ebook novella reissued by Pocket Star 06 May 13
So what does an heiress, who is also a horse thief, have in common with an earl, who is half Indian? Regardless of how many reasons one can offer, there is only one that counts.
REVIEW: Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward
Sandy M’s review of Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 11) by J.R. Ward
Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy published by Signet 2 Oct 12
I know there’s been some flak over the last few books in this series, folks aren’t liking the lack of romance, feel there’s less connection to characters, or don’t like the way the series is heading. And that’s probably among other things. But even though I’m about three books behind in reading it, I’m still loving this series just I have since reading the first book.
GUEST REVIEW: Edge of Midnight by Leslie Tentler
Willa’s review of Edge of Midnight (Chasing Evil, Book 3) by Leslie Tentler
Romantic Suspense published by Mira 24 Jan 12
Romantic suspense is my genre of choice. I love a good mystery, following the clues, layered together with the romance. In a genre where Secret Ops, Black Ops, Undercover Ops seem to be prevalent at the moment, complete with three, four, five or more team members all waiting in the wings and queuing for their books, finding this one was a real thrill.
