RETRO REVIEW: Tiger Magic by Jennifer Ashley
Ash’s review of Tiger Magic (Shifters Unbound Series, Book 5) by Jennifer Ashley
Paranormal Romance released by Berkley 04 Jun 13
I am sad to say I was a bit disappointed in this book. I really loved the previous one in the series, so I had high hopes.
RETRO REVIEW: Lord of Dashwood Missed Out by Tessa Dare
Tabs’ review of Lord Dashwood Missed Out (Spindle Cove, Book 4.5) by Tessa Dare
Regency Romance published by Avon Impulse 8 Dec 2015
Oh, Spindle Cove. I didn’t realize how much I much I missed you until I got to return to you. In this ridiculously delightful novella, the residents of Spindle Cove anxiously await the arrival of authoress Elinora Browning, while said authoress finally has it out with the source of her inspiration. You see, Nora has become rather famous for writing a feminist-manifesto-of-sorts entitled “Lord Ashwood Missed Out” that was definitely inspired by one Lord Dashwood. When Nora and Dash find themselves stuck in the same carriage and then snowbound together, the inevitable confrontation ensues.
RETRO REVIEW: How to Seduce a Texan by Karen Kelley
LauraJ’s review of How to Seduce a Texan by Karen Kelley
Contemporary Romantic Comedy released by Brava 1 Jun 09
Karen Kelley has done it again. She has once again written a fun, funny, and just plain entertaining story, which is exactly what I want and needed. When I read a book, I want to be entertained. I want to escape from the reality of my world and laugh, smile, and relax. While this story is not as quirky as some of her other books, such as the Planet Nerak series (which I do enjoy), I still found myself laughing at the situations the hero and heroine got into. read more…
RETRO REVIEW: Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh
Gwen’s review of Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling Series, Book 10) by Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance hardcover published by Berkley 31 May 11
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Nalini Singh. I love to read her books. The complexity of the worlds Singh creates transports me there every time I read them. Sure, the romances are satisfying, the heroes and heroines complicated and compelling. But the world! The world is why I read. It’s immediate, believable, and populated with enough good and bad to be really interesting. So it’s with a heavy heart that I say that I didn’t really love Kiss of Snow.
RETRO REVIEW: Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James
Shannon C.’s review of Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James
Contemporary romance released by Berkley 3 Mar 09
Originally, I hadn’t been particularly interested in reading this book. The phrase “feminist heroine” usually fills me with an unnameable dread. But after reading Jessica’s take on the gender politics and feminism in the book, I decided I should read it myself, since her review was very positive and I figured that if she liked the book, the chances of me hating it would go down. And I did enjoy this book. I haven’t quite embraced Julie James as the best thing to happen to the romance community since Nora Roberts, but I would definitely read her again. read more…
RETRO REVIEW: Fifth Grave Past the Light by Darynda Jones
Liviania’s review of Fifth Grave Past the Light (Charley Davidson, Book 5) by Darynda Jones
Urban fantasy published by St. Martin’s Press 9 July 13
I am a sucker for a good bargain, which is why I bought the ebook of First Grave on the Right when it was on sale. I’d heard all sorts of good things about the Charley Davidson series back when I read Darynda Jones’s YA debut, Death and the Girl Next Door.
Little did I know that that bargain ebook would suck me into reading the whole series so far as quickly as I could get my hands on them. If you’re looking for urban fantasy that stands out from the crowd, then this is it.
RETRO REVIEW: Ravishing the Heiress by Sherry Thomas
Lawson’s review of Ravishing the Heiress (Fitzhugh Trilogy, Book 2) by Sherry Thomas
Historical Romance published by Berkley 03 Jul 12
It’s been quite a while since I’ve read and reviewed, but I’ve had some time this summer to get in some reading for fun. This is a book I chose to read on a plane, flying to Rome to meet up with some friends. Upon arrival I shared it with them, but their reactions to the book were much different than mine. I’d read the first in the series, Beguiling the Beauty, and I would have to say these books do need to be read in order, as there are threads through the first one that teases the action in Ravishing the Heiress. Likewise, there is a continuing thread that will be wrapped up in the third book, Tempting the Bride.
REVIEW: Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney
Kaitlyn‘s review of Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney
Mystery/Thriller published by Flatiron Books 30 Aug 22
Another book that I quickly binged in just two sittings, because I was dying to know what was going on. Usually I’m a lover of spoilers, I like to know things. 😬 But I refused to look anything up while reading this, because I was having so much fun staying in the dark.
REVIEW: The Deja Glitch by Holly James
Sandy M’s review of The Deja Glitch by Holly James
Contemporary Paranormal Romance published by Dutton 01 Aug 23
This is my first Holly James book, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this “Groundhog Day“ storyline.
REVIEW: The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Kaitlyn‘s review of The Brothers Hawthorne (Inheritance Games, Book 4) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Young Adult Romantic Suspense published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers 29 Aug 23
I absolutely adored The Inheritance Games series and was so glad we get to see more of the boys. I love them all. Kind of wish there had been even more Xander, though. And without giving away any spoilers for the love triangle, I also desperately wish one of the brothers (my favorite brother? 😳) would finally get some happiness. He got a little in this, but I NEED more for him.
