Greetings and salutations! I want to say thanks to Sybil and the rest of the folks at The Good, the Bad, and the Unread for having me on the blog today. Thanks, guys!
Now, I love to read just as much as I love to write, especially books that contain either romance, fantasy, or both. I’m always on the lookout for new books and authors to try, so today I thought I’d share some of my favorite recent book reads and series to add to everyone’s ever-increasing TBR pile.
Here goes:
Beastly by Alex Flinn: This young adult novel is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast from the Beast’s point of view. It’s just a really great, clever, heartfelt story. I don’t re-read many books, but this is one that I definitely want to read again someday.
Beauty by Robin McKinley: Another Beauty and the Beast retelling but from Beauty’s point of view. Can you tell that I’m a sucker for that particular story? LOL. This is another book that I plan to re-read someday.
The Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole: I love this series for its strong heroines, sexy guys, and overall sense of fun. Who wouldn’t want to have a wild and crazy friend like Nix always predicting your future? Or some cool Valkyrie sisters to hang out with and cause trouble?
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa: This young adult book focuses on a girl who realizes that she’s half-Fey and has to journey over to the realm of the Fey to find her kidnapped brother. There’s a great romance and lots of cool world building in this one. Now, I just need to find the time to read the rest of the series.
Sugar Daddy and the rest of the Travis contemporary romance series by Lisa Kleypas: I like Kleypas’s historical Wallflowers series, but I absolutely adore her contemporary romance series about the lives and loves of a Texas family. These books are just that good.
Westerns: I’m a sucker for westerns, whether they’re historicals or contemporaries. I really enjoyed Never Love a Lawman by Jo Goodman last year, as well as many of Linda Lael Miller’s books. There need to be more westerns in the world. Why? Because there are few things sexier than a good-looking cowboy. LOL.
What about you guys? What are some of your favorite books and authors? What books are you looking forward to this year? Share in the comments.
[Ed. A copy of Jennifer’s Tangled Threads is up for grabs, so be sure to leave a question or comment for Jennifer today! U.S. and Canada only, please.]
Welcome, Jennifer! A fascinating choice of books, and yes, I love me a sexy cowboy, too. Long live the romantic Western!
Congratulations on the new release. I’ve read Lisa Kleypas’s Travis family series and agree that it’s very good. The Texas backdrop added to the story.
Great list of books, Jennifer. So far I’ve read Sugar Daddy and The Iron King.

Pam — I haven’t read Showalter’s series, but I’ve been meaning to try her. The Iron King is really excellent. If your son likes action-packed books, you might also try the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the book.
