Book CoverThank you so much for having me as a guest today, Sandy. It’s a pleasure to be here!

I wanted to do something special for the readers here at TGTBTU, and thought I’d premier my book video for Beneath the Thirteen Moons, which I haven’t even posted on my website yet.

Making videos for my books is always difficult for me, as my worlds are always a result of an over-active imagination, and it’s hard to find pictures to match what I envision in my head. I tweak some pictures to create a close approximation of my world, and managed to get a realistic picture of the moons over the ocean of Sea Forest.

Since there is no land, and all life exists within the canopy of trees that grow up from the ocean floor, I couldn’t really capture the enormous size of the trees as they are envisioned within the book, but I’ll let you all be the judge if I managed to suggest it. I tweaked the picture of the swamps to capture the scene of the exploding white blossoms that Mahri and Prince Korl encounter on their journey, but I didn’t even try to attempt to find a photo of the sea monster that they encounter.

Several reviewers have suggested a similarity between my world in Beneath the Thirteen Moons, and that of world in the movie Avatar. Although I wrote this book years before the movie (the paperback edition of Beneath the Thirteen Moons is a re-release of the original hard cover version published in 2003) in many ways, I felt as if I was watching parts of my book come to life when I saw the movie. Unfortunately, I don’t have a team of CGI artists on hand for my book videos. :}

At least this time I managed to find a pretty good likeness to my heroine, Mahri, who is a smuggler of the magical zabbaroot within the swamplands of the world of Sea Forest. And for Korl, the prince of Sea Forest, I found a practically perfect picture of how he might look. But still, I think this is why I prefer heads to be cut off on book covers…my imagination usually outshines any representation of my characters. I think it’s because they become unique individuals to me, and pictures of other people, no matter how similar, can only be reasonable likenesses of my characters.

So without further ado, I’d like to present the book teaser video for Beneath the Thirteen Moons, and I do hope you enjoy it, and it at least gives you an idea of the story within the book.

I’d love to hear what you think, and if you have any suggestions that might make it better.

My publisher is offering two copies of my book to two lucky commenters today (USA & Canada addresses only), so readers, please be sure to comment on my post, or just say hello. I’d love to hear from you!

Wishing You All My Magical Best,
Kathryne
