I am slowly ‘trying’ to dip my toes back into the pond. My internet is still touch and go but I am trying to work with it. Lawson was a doll and let me babysit her laptop for a weekend. So I am down from 1200+ emailsbut still fighting. I am NOT saying don’t send emails… do do do.
I am delighted to see the blog doing well without me, even if the reviews got down way below what I would like. Hopefully we will be back up to 2 a day soonish. Sorry some of them are old. Some of the quacks had to take breaks for this reason and that reason – the books were read and I feel the books still deserve reviews. We will try to mix them in with the ‘hot and happening’, maybe you will find something you missed.
Sandy has been doing a bang up job on the duck chats and we will be adding a Duckie Hour. Something of a quickie interview with a few authors, more info on that coming up. As always there will be Duck Flashes, Ponderings, randomness and all that jazz. IF my net holds up we might even get our template updated, le sigh, wouldn’t that be grand?
Interesting (if overblown) interview at AAR with two Editors at Avon. I posted at AAR, which of course never showed the new owners of AAR were all about getting me fired for being a ‘blogger’ and apart of ‘maili’s clique’ almost from the moment I joined up to review so no shock there. Aww good times.
Any other amusing dust ups I have missed? I did see the ever delightful Bella has crowned herself queen of the internets. She is special.
I have tons of reviews to do. LOVED: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley, First Comes Marriage by Mary Balogh, Never Love a Lawman by Jo Goodman, Burning Wild By Christine Feehan, Sudden Death by Allison Brennan, Tempted All Night by Liz Carlyle, Hard and Fast by Erin McCarthy
Enjoyed: Rachel and the Hired Gun by Elaine Levine, Then Comes Seduction by Mary Balogh, At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh, Montanna Creed series by Linda Lael Miller, Led Astray by a Rake by Sara Bennett
Those are just the A+ – C- sitting next to the computer no clue how many I will do or not. I am currently reading Tasting Fear by Shannon McKenna and going back and forth with starting Skin Trade by LKH. And I STILL haven’t decided what I think about Ward’s last book and I have read it twice. Parts I adored, parts I hated and parts just made me go what the fuck.
Soooo what about you? What cha reading? What cha up too?
Just wanted to drop by and say WELCOME BACK, you were missed. I read some of the books you mentioned excluding Tasting Fear but I will rectify that when it comes out. I’m currently reading Burning Alive by Shannon K. Butcher, so far so good. I held out for Rehv’s book Lover Avenged and it was a DNF for me. I officially broke up with my second Author *le sigh*.
Just wanted to say it’s nice to see you out and about..Oh and I’m glad I’m not the only one that LOVED Burning Wild, I thought she did a great job walking a fine line with her hero in the story!
Welcome back! I just finished Laura Resnick’s Disappearing Nightly (fun book!) and am starting Night’s Rose by Annaliese Evans.
glad you’re back, Sybs! I just read an early copy of Dirty Sexy Knitting by Christie Ridgway, and Wild Heat by my buddy Bella Andre – both were fantastic.
Bella Andre’s book rocked looking forward to the second book!
Yay, you’re back! I missed your quacked up self. I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the latest BDB – from the reviews it looks like I should read the previous book and I haven’t yet.
I’m currently reading Untamed by Pamela Clare – I can’t seem to stay with it but it’s my ‘ohhhh, shiny’ response not the books fault.
I sent you a little something. Hope it shows up – next week sometime maybe. It makes me laugh – you can tell me if you ‘get’ it when it shows up.
cindy
:waving: hello, there, head ducky!
Hope the internet issues are a thing of the past now and we get to see you more often.
Take care of yourself, woman!
(((sybil)))
::waving:: hiya we missed you.
Looks like you and I both read at least one of the same books – although HOW THE HECK did you get Skin Trade already? HMMMM??? I’ve got mine of pre-order so I’m waiting impatiently. I did find a new to me author – Rachel Vincent, and so far I’ve loved her books waiting for the new one in July.
It is a review copy. I don’t read LKH much anymore but I started with obsidian butterfly and have a special place in my heart for Edward. So might read this one. And I do so lurve Vegas.
Liv will have a review of the next Rachel Vincent.
Anything else nifty you have picked up recently? I have found I really am enjoying Kasey Michaels old historicals, I should look and see if I have any of her new ones. ACK she is still doing historicals isn’t she? I know I have seen a mystery series she is doing with HQN or Mira I tried to get Wendy to review ;).
She’s back! WB!
I have or had a Kasey Michaels, haven’t seen or read it in awhile, so I have no idea if she’s still doing historicals or not.
As for other authors – hmmmm ..thinking….been re-reading a lot, no other new ones that stand out anyways.
Lucky you on the review copy, I’ve read the chapter she has online, and it’s looking good, that’s why I’m so impatient for my copy to get here.
