What you like about romance.
That it always has a HEA. :: :-* may::
What you don’t like about romance.
The lack of current historical western settings. That people cry about the lack of history in historical novels and then cry when the history isn’t what they want. And Spies.
I would have said socks but that is by no means just a romanceland thing. Teh crazies be everywhere.

LOL I haven’t read the others… must look them up!
Desired as in Thea Devine or Nicole Jordan? hmmm and Dark Melody and Fire are Feehan right? I have that but haven’t read them.
RiW? Is that Kathleen E. Woodiwiss? Never read her. Which lawson thinks is scandalous and must be changed.
I am being oppressed!
This is fun. I should take it to my blog but I’m lazy
Your fave book(s): Wishes, Nobody’s Baby But Mine, The Perfect Husband, The Other Daughter, Fat Tuesday, old Catherine Coulter Historicals, Old Julie Garwood Historicals (yes all of them), Old Bertrice Small Historicals (again yes all of them), Hissy Fit, Little Bitty Lies, The Forest Lord, Lynn Viehl’s Darkyn series, KMM’s books….I could go on but it’s easier to name authors.

What you like about romance: Sheesh hell if I know.
What you don’t like about romance: Too much narrative (sue me)
Your non romance reading hobbies: Besides the obvious writing, gardening and basketball (it’s Final Four weekend!!!)
Sybil, That’s Desired by Virginia Henley, although I do really like Nicole Jordan, too. 🙂 Yes, Rose in Winter is Kathleen Woodiwiss. Probably one of the best historical romances ever written IMO. You NEED to read some of her work. The ‘Dark’ books are by Christine Feehan.

What you like about romance: The happy endings and idea that love really can last a lifetime.
What you don’t like about romance: The soul-mate plot. And alpha guys who basically assault women by not taking no for an answer. (Seriously, if they acted like that in the real world, their butts would get carted off to jail in a heartbeat).

What you like about romance.
HEA, sexy heros of all types when you can’t find them for real, lol
What you don’t like about romance.
“That people cry about the lack of history in historical novels and then cry when the history isn’t what they want” – I’ve noticed that, too, Sybil. I don’t like a wealth of scene description, rather more on the characters and interactions.
Your non romance reading hobbies.
Music and crafts, technology
Books: Kiss an Angel; Breathing Room; Lady Be Good; Heaven, Texas; Bet Me; Devil in Winter; Dreaming of You; Suddenly You; Prince of Dreams [excluding the time travel part b/c I can haz selective reading]; Lost in Your Arms; That Scandalous Evening; One Kiss From You; The Trouble With Valentine’s Day; See Jane Score; The Savage Heart; Mansfield Park
[You know, I’ve never read Heiress for Hire – never wanted to b/c I hate hate hate “heiress” heroines.]
Authors: No rly? Check the list above 😛 and – Shannon McKenna, Nancy Warren, Erin McCarthy, Leanne Banks … I’m sure there’s more. Emilie Rose, JR Ward, Susan Elizabeth Phillips does deserve her own mention, Lucy Monroe, Susan Mallery, Eloisa James, Laura Lee Guhrke, Lori Foster, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh… actually that may be close to all of them
A/b romance: Love the happy ending. And the DEFINITE ending. No open endings. That’s not an end. It’s a cheap cop out :X
Don’t like: SERIES. The unending ones. 7 is enough. Max 10. Honestly – don’t write a good thing into the ground. Just don’t. Back away from the computer.
I also don’t like the “pushing the limits” thing – trying too hard to be WOW/hot. B/c then it just gets squicky and creepy. Yes, incest is “sensational” and “newish” [sans you know VC Andrews] – but that doesn’t mean it should be incorporated as a “yay romance!” thing.
non romance: Kid books. Classics. Haven’t really read either in a while.
… apparently I get ranty when exhausted and panicked about papers due in 12 hrs.
Damn. I still have to sing along with that song. Don McLean. Love him.
I know! I need to get something new stuck in my head.
Oddly enough when I thought about the questions a whole bunch of non-romance books popped into mind.

What you like about romance?
1. I can crank up my MP3 player and crack open a book and escape my stressful life.
2. Oh, and I’m ecstatic that westerns are being revived…I missed them dearly.
3. An HEA. I’m a complete sucker for a really romantic HEA.
What you don’t like about romance?
1. The book covers. I’m sorry, but I hate the half naked men on the covers, and the quasi men/animals, the running couples, and the butt ugly pictorial scenes like ponds. What does a pond/flower/river/tree growing out of a marshy mess have to do with romance??? U-G-L-Y.
2. Whatever happened to 85% plot and 15% sex? I miss the days when romances could pack a whollup of knowledge and still be hot.
3. Trends. They may be hot, but I’m sick of paranormal romances and/or menage story lines. The first 50 books were decent, but I can’t walk into a bookstore and not be overwhelmed with any combination of the two.
4. I second Limecello’s dislike for series’. If I have to worry about setting up a retirement fund before getting a conclusion to a series…I’m gonna pass.
Your non romance reading hobbies.
1. Finally catching up on all the tv shows that I’ve missed the last 5 years of working the graveyard shift.
2. Finding new blogs to read that strive for humor.
3. Restoring books to their former glory.
ohhhh I love Lora Leigh’s SEAL series! Do you not like military books or did hers just not work for you?
What are some of your faves of hers? I don’t even remember Tempting the Beast… will have to do a reread.
