As we promised, here is the second edition of TGTBTU’s Harlequin Insider, where author Michelle Styles discusses some upcoming events. Let me also note that Harlequin loves Valentine’s Day soooo much that they have extended the holiday special for free shipping on all orders at EHarlequin.com through February 24. Some magic words there, FREE SHIPPING…they get me every time (sniffle).
Stay tuned as we continue catching up with Michelle tomorrow, February 21.
TGTBTU’s Harlequin Insider: Harlequin Loves to Party
By Michelle Styles
Harlequin takes anniversaries pretty seriously. They believe in their authors and celebrate when they reach milestones. For twenty-five books, the author receives a silver pin, and for fifty a gold pin. These pins are given out either at the RWA national Conference or at the Mills & Boon annual toast to the authors in September. This month, two time Rita winner, Liz Fielding, sees her 50th book, The Sheikh’s Unsuitable Bride, published. In April, her 50th Harlequin Romance will be published. Liz is celebrating this milestone through out the year. She has invited author friends to have weekly giveaways on her blog . First up will be Presents author Annie West.
Mills & Boon is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. They have lots of things planned. They will be issuing special limited editions, special reprints of old favourites, competitions and much more. The Vanishing Viscountess by Diane Gaston is the first special edition book, and features as a bonus book – The Mysterious Miss M, also by Gaston. Other events such as an exhibition in Manchester and a cocktail party at the Wallace Collection are also planned to help celebrate 100 years of Mills & Boon.
Harlequin and Silhouette typically make a big deal about Valentine’s Day. This year is no exception and Friday saw the launch of the Special Treat website . At the website, readers can find free online reads for the new Historical Inspired line, NASCAR and Nocturne. They can also send a postcard, listen to music and read the 2008 Romance Report. Every Harlequin or Silhouette book published in February will have the Special Flash on the cover.
